Any ideas what this is?

Everything crossed for Velvet today.
Spike loves his pro c too. I mix his cystease in pro c water, he takes it easily this way. I suspect the pro c is very sweet, I did worry about causing other health problems giving it frequently but my vet recommends it for the older piggies on a daily basis. I'm Spike passed thick creamy sludge with his stone and gravel last year so definately mention it to the vet.

Vet Velvet saw was the Boss of the Practice so I told her she had to behave herself! Mark said that she needs an x-ray which is being done tomorrow. I need to take her in at 8.30 and leave her for the day. We are seeing if there are any more stones in there and if so if they need to be removed. He took one look at the stone and said "I be she's pleased she's not boy passing a stone that large!" So Velvet will be left at around 8.30 tomorrow morning with her lunch box of goodies.

I have lunch box of goodies ready and a bag of hay. I haven't told Velvet yet she's spending the day at the vet I'll let her know in the morning.

I don't think the vet will allow the lunchbox of goodies incase the x ray found something !
Good luck velvet, sending velvet hugs !:hug:for toworrow.bed early for velvet

The x-ray is for a bladder sludge and to see if there is another bladder stone other than the one she has passed already. Hopefully there aren't any more stones!

Good luck Velvet. I hope the day out at the vet goes smoothly... Fingers crossed there aren't any more stones 🤞

Good news and bad news. The good news is no stones in bladder. Bad news is lots of bladder sludge and inflamed bladder walls and a possible infection. I have to give Sulfatrim for 2 weeks 0.3ml twice a day, syringe as much Pro-C as she will take twice a day and once a day Cystease for 30 days. Phew! I hope I remember all that.

Sorry I missed this thread until just now.
So sorry about Velvet. Poor girl, she must be feeling so uncomfortable.
Hope the meds work quickly.

Tough on you with a house move looming too.

Good luck with all the juggling @Betsy. I'm sure Velvet is in very capable hands!
Hope so and as well as all the medicating Velvet, I also have to remember Christian's Metacam twice a day, weigh him once a day and also when I have to change the dosage! :flag:

Sounds like you have your hands full! I hope things are a bit more settled soon.

Just caught up with this, sorry to hear velvet has bladder sludge, my late Sam had the same and had to have a bladder flush, he was very uncomfortable.Hope poor velvet is feeling better soon xx

I know I like to be busy busy busy!🏃‍♀️

This hasn't been suggested for Velvet. I am trying to flush out her bladder by giving as much Pro-C mixed with water as she will take twice a day. The vet did mention that as she's a girl she should pass it easier than a boy. My vet fund has been severly depleted over the last few months with both Velvet and Christian so I will have to build it back up again. I just hope ebay starts to pick up. That is my vet fund. It's been very quiet cos of the holidays. Always is in August.

Hopefully by syringing water she'll pass it soon, sending her healing vibes xx

Hopefully she will. I'll do it for 30 days as long as the Cystease lasts for as the X ray showed loads of sludge and we don't want another stone forming. She will also go on a low calcium diet.
