Just got a call from a friend who came home to find 36 guineas dumped in boxes on her doorstep!! Luckily she is very guinea savvy as she breeds and is housing these guineas temporarily tlil |I can sort rescue space for most of them but the ones who it would be dodgy to move she is kindly caring for until they find new homes. Mums and very young bubs, mostly sows most likey used to breed for pet shops and no longer wanted.
At least they were dumped at someones door who was capable of caring for them but arrrg people are just 98)
Been on the phone to the Norfolk bunch andf we ahave most of them sorted with space.
Just when I thought it was getting quiet around here! under 40 piggies here for once that never lasts long! ::)
off to see them tomorrow when my car is fixed and will bring some home.

No idea on their condition yet and all will need strict quarantine the girls will have to be preseumed pragnant until they prove otherwise, poor things have been through a lot already so would not put them through long journey times. Between Ron, Sophie, my friend Jayne and PACT we should be able to house them all hopefully.

at least they were dumped on someone's doorstep that knew about piggies. but it begs the question were they dumped by someone that knew your friend had guinea pigs? is the person/s who dumped them known by your friend? sending them all and their carers hugs and cuddles :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: and the girls send :-* :-* :-* hoping they are all well and find happy forever homes soon. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: and your all angels for what you all do! so bless you and thank you for being you! and for all the guinea pigs you have helped and will help. :smitten: 0:)

Oh no...hope they okay...but at least they have been 'dumped' in the right place..some one who will look after them
best of luck...here if you need anything vikki

I too am glad they were dumped somewhere where they would be cared for. The lady in question was at the mid suffolk show last sunday and had people asking her her address so they could come and look at guineas (as she does not advertise her address she thinks it may have been someone from there) She does not know where they came from as they are pet shop type dolly mixture piggys.

oh the poor piggys. i hope you get them all sorted soon. thank god they ended up on the doorstep of a knowlegable person

Bless Cheryl shes been roped in to help with this lot! Think we have most of them covered now! O0

how terrible, well done on finding them all foster homes :)

i just leave it a while before telling OH of any new arrivals ;D
But he does know about the 36 but not the number i can take in (6)
and these will be quarintined for their sake poor things

Ok 11 of these piggys are now here (7 sows have gone to Cheryl):

Conrad (crested) and Jupp are a pair of Boars Golden dark eyed very sweet little boys not in bad condition just a bit thin Conrad is less than 1 Jupp is about 12 weeks. Photos of these guys were shocking so will have to take some more later, both been ivomecced and are living very merrily together, very nice pigs bless them.
These guys will need to go into foster care once they have had their second ivomeccing.

Jolly and 3 babies Jolly is weighing in at 580g is very baldy probably from hormones and vitamin deficiency as the skin looks healthy but we shall see. Babies all eating solids bless then so would say they are about 3 days old weighing in at 60-72g all boney and eatingl ike crazy.
Due to the state of health these guys will remain here

Bandit - 920g boney but pregnant by the look of her was in with Jolly on arrival so will stay here just incase Jollys fur loss is something more ominous and I don't like moving unweight preggers girls more than is absolutely necessary. You can clearly see her back bone and how thin she is on the pics

Merry- 840g- boney and very pregnant probably about 3 weeks to go not bad in skin condition though will be staying here as would not move her again at this point in her pregnancy
174merry.jpg

Constance(Connie)- 830g in better shape than the others probably pregnant but in early stages if she is blue eyed white rex sweet temprement and is keeping the highly strung agoutis in line with her laid back attitude.
Connie will be fostered as she is in good shape to travel at the moment

Speed and Haste- A pair of manic agoutis both suspected early pregnant 650g and could not keep her still enough on the scales! An interesting pair but not for the inexperienced! Underweight but in general good condition
These guys will be fostered as they are in good shape to travel at the moment

I think it adds up to 18 guineas removed but I am now officially allergic to counting so I could be wrong!
This leaves the lady with whom they were dumped with a manageable number to cope with for now.

PS Sophie these agoutis are not satin but very shiny bless them! I think being shiny on photos is what agoutis do best!

So....hands very full here officially over 50 guineas at the moment thank crunchie some are going to new homes on Friday!

Ron and Sophie you are twinkly stars will be in touch with you both about who is going where,
Sophie you said on phone you would foster sheltie boys as they are fit and healthy,
Ron we spoke about the remaining three boars will phone the lady about them today
When speaking to you both last night I had not figured Conrad and Jupp into the fostering but hey ho we will sort it out as we go as per usual lol!
Big hugs to you both and Cheryl you are all stars!

poor little mites at least they are in good hands now

How can anyone dump pregnant sows? Wish I was closer Vikki! Good luck with them! :smitten:

Still 3 sows with 7 babies at the ladys house as she thinks she can find homes for them, A sow that is very baldy with two babies I was worried about moving as she did not look too cracky and the are a 50min drive from my house.
Cheryl bless her has taken the Himi 4 and three young sows all possibly pregnant but they wil need somewhere to go in june as she is going on honeymoon.
What is it with NOrfolk epolpe and guineas at the moment far too many big cases! :tickedoff:

hoping they all find good foster homes and forever homes. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: you people are amazing and good karma and happy piggies will follow you all :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: whilst bad karma will follow who ever did this. :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: sending hugs :smitten: girls send :-* :-* :-*
