I think you're doing a good job at keeping them cool. Providing frozen bottles and bringing them indoors during the hottest part of the day is the best thing you can do. However, I would be very cautious when providing a "paddling pool" for your piggies. Even if it is just a shallow bowl, there is a risk that they could slip and become submerged. Or they could become stressed and thrash around and drown. Personally, I wouldn't risk it. Very few guinea pigs actually enjoy being in water. It may just cause unnecessary stress.

If you were going to provide some kind of "pool" for them, I think the safest thing to do would be to cover a dinner plate in a dishcloth and then pour water on top. The dinner plate would be shallow enough to prevent drowning, and the dishcloth would provide some traction so they don't slip.

I'm pretty lucky in that I'm allowed to keep my piggies indoors, so they are under the air con all day. They are spoilt piggies indeed!

Please send some heat here its -1oC and I have to go deice my car now! I don't use heating or anything in my house yet either I don't feel the cold but I don't like deicing my car one bit!

Hope all your piggies are fine :)

Thanks for the advice, tried to teach one of mine to swim today and like you said, he became very distressed, however I will try the dinner plate theory, he might prefer that! :)

Wooaahhh -1! Good luck with the deicing, am trying to send some over but it might take a few months! Hope your piggies are fine as well!

Thanks @Cavyhappy -1 outdoors isnt that cold for here in the winter (the worst i've had is -15C) the piggies are just fine in the house its not that cold and its totally draught free, there are people who keep their piggies outside in this country :-)

Gosh, people actually keep them outside; I would bring mine inside if it was 10C! Good to know that your house is draught free. Do you have a rabbit as well?

2 house buns :)

10c overnight isnt achieved most of tge year here :)
Cute bunnies, wish I could have bunnies (they're classified as pests in my state)! Must be cold outside over there

Lol id consider 10c to be mild especially for an overnight temperature :D

Shame bunnies are classed as a pest :-(

Maybe just put enough water in for them to paddle in but not have to swim.

I would give anything for it to be 10c here! I dread to think how cold it is outside - but there's definitely been a temperature drop in the last couple of days. Unfortunately I live in the attic of an over 150 year old building with a leaky roof, no heating and extreme draughts! (Well the draughts are downstairs where we have heating) my room seems to excentuate whatever temperatures are outside so if it's cold outside it's colder inside and same with the heat where it can get really hot!

Woah, I would also want it to be 10c here for the opposite reason!
