We finally got out tiny trio of rats.
After losing Quinn last year, I didn't think that we'd get any more. Poor Harley is still going strong and I'm hoping once the boys are bigger that we can introduce them (she's an old lady so won't get pregnant or get the boys riled up).
So here they are...FB_IMG_1422878290145.webp1 brown smooth coat with tiny top ears, 1 grey/brown Rex with top ears and 1 grey and white Rex with dumbo ears.
20150201_204020.webp This is my little one, Finn. He's such a sweetie and relaxed with me very quickly. 20150201_195200.webp He gave himself a little bath during our first cuddle time, very good sign that he's relaxed.
It gets even better! He then curled up to me for a tiny snooze!2015-02-01 20.50.04.webpI worried that he was getting cold so I got his little cuddle cup that I made earlier 20150201_210544.webpFB_IMG_1422824828993.webp I think he likes it :D
The other 2 boys are my fiancé's. He hasn't named them yet but I think he's calling one Other Barry (if you watch Archer you'll get the reference). They are such little fuzz balls of energy it was very difficult to take clear pictures.20150201_220824.webp20150201_220733.webp :D so happy with my rodent and reptile family!

Thanks guys :D
Today I sat and watched them playing....Two hours passed before I could tare myself away. They have so much energy and they even popcorn! I didn't know they did that?!
They all have been named now; Finn (my boy, I love Adventure Time and he looks like he's wearing a hat like the characters). Other Barry (OH's obsession with Archer continues) and Ron (named after Ron Swanson from Parks and Recreation, the manliest man in the universe!)

So cute! I love rats. I had pet mice for years as a child as well.

Ohhh myyy goshh! Soooo cute! I love rats! Think their little hands and feet are soo cute!

It totally melts my heart when they grab the tip of your finger and just hold it for a while :D

eeeeeee! That's the noise I make thinking about a rat holding your finger! awww I'd be so obsessed with them!

I did a bad thing today out of my obsession. They were all snoozing in the tunnel and I went over to say good morning and they all opened their eyes so I put my hand in and took the tunnel and rats out for a cuddle (and to empty the tunnel of tiny poos). Later my fiancé came home and I said I was worried because they were asleep most of the day and wouldn't play with me....turns out that they're nocturnal and our older girl is just mad for attention so will wake up and be ready for playing as soon as I walk into the room. I felt so guilty that I'd woken them all up just for a cuddle!

Sleepy cuddles are the best for bonding (that's what I told myself anyway).
I'll be up til silly hours of the morning now playing with them and trying to teach them tricks. They're a bit young, but it's good for them to know what bribery is from a young age :tu:

hahahaha, They'll be able to do some amazing tricks when there older though! Start 'them young!

We had rats at college which I loved, but they were so bitey! Literally couldn't put food in without getting bitten by them! in the end we had to wear gauntlets to get them out for cleaning!

I taught my old girl how to "up up" (worked with the piggies too" and how to run from one hand, up my arm and across my shoulders to my other hand. It was amazing and took a lot of cheerios as bribery!

One of the boys is a little nibbler but only very gently. Were the rats at college handled a lot?

Oh wow! Rats are so clever! So are piggies! Amber does "up up" for veggies, OH taught her though.
Not really, there was two of them, they were really old, most people were scared of them as they took chunks out of quite a lot of people. Then we had an albino one called peanut, who had allergies to everything, and kept getting chest infections and had a bloody nose, he was really cute to handle, during lessons he'd be so noisy to come out someone would have to take him out and put him in the pouch of there jumper (the big long pockets on a pull-over style jumper) where he'd just sleep and be warm. But yeah the other two were not handled really, which is probably why they were so bad.

Awww bless! They can get quite aggressive when they're hormones kick in but fingers crossed, our little ones will be ok with lots of handling. We're making loud squeaks when they nip us to let them know it hurts. Poor little things jump at the noise!
Walter (my avatar pig) does up up but gus is a bit too tubby and just kind of lifts one paw so I taught him "round round". Such clever little things when the veggies come out.
You should definitely get rats! We could swap baby pictures! :D

Yeah I started to do the high pitched noise thing! but I was the only one who would really do it, so it wouldn't work as much! Haha they'll learn though! Atleast they get scared kind of and know they've dont a bad thing!

Awww, yeah Amber can only just about do the 'up up' but I might teach her to go round! Animals will do anything for food!
God i'd never be allowed to get rats they 'smell' to much apparently! I'm 22 and live at my mums with my OH so yeah, theres barely enough room for the guinea pig and 4 cats! I'd never be able to fit rats in! As much as i'd love too! I defiantly will when I get my own place though! & more piggies!

I love rats - I had two (Alice and Lucy Fur) before we got pigs. My youngest daughter keeps looking at fancy mice but they are far too small for my liking. I like a good lump of a pet! :)

It's so weird when I pick the piggies up after playing with the tiny rats that weigh almost nothing! Much easier to cuddle and not really interested in everything around them....unless there's veg!
Mice are so tiny, I'd be scared of them escaping! Have you seen multimammates? They're like a cross between rats and chinchillas, or a small piggy with a tail :)

I've never heard of multimammates but they sound like my kind of pet :) We haven't had our new piggies out yet as we only got them on Sunday. They will feel strange as I'm used to the weight of Henry (our GP that died recently). He was huge!

Aw I'm sorry to hear about Henry :(
That's some will power you have! I couldn't help but pick up the piggies after a long 24 hours of watching them front the other side of the room!

Aww - now that is sweet!
Thanks; I'm still getting used to the new piggies, keep calling them Henry by mistake and getting the eye from my hubby. He was almost 8 yrs old so was due a letter from the Queen I think :)
I'm a bit nervous of getting them out yet, our last pigs were 6mths old plus when we got them so already pretty large. Frankie and Benny are approx 10 weeks old and like tiny potatoes. I'd forgotten how crazy they are as little ones :D

Ive got two little girl ratties! Storm and Rita, they are such monkeys they amuse me though greatly. Ive given up giving them fleece things for time being they have destroyed every single hammock and bed ive made them so far haha. They respond to food so well but they aren't as cuddly as boys lol I love their little hands and feet too! Yours are super cute!

Thanks :) our girls did the same with all fleecy bits! So far the boys haven't started the chewing so I'm hoping they don't have that nesting instinct. I'm looking forward to having a shoulder rat that won't run off to explore every few minutes!
Do you have pictures of your girls?
