Hi there, new to the forum but I am an owner of two gorgeous little guinea pigs!
Unfortunately one of my girls Hazel (1.5 years old) has in the last couple weeks developed some dental problems. I took her to vets who told me she had a malocclusion and gave her dental work. A few visits back and fourth then happened and Hazel was not able to eat at all, she’s been wanting to eat but just not able to hold things in her mouth. She’s had an x-ray done and it’s revealed some of her back teeth are being pushed backwards into her jaw, leaving her mouth unable to close properly. My vet is sending over her x-ray to a specialist and is supposed to be getting back to me asap - but I am just so nervous.. I know if I am unable to do anything for her to provide her a good quality of life I will be having to say goodbye to her.. it’s been really upsetting me, has anyone’s piggy gone through anything similar, and has anything been able to be done about it? I’m dreading hearing that nothing can be done..
