It was a nice day today and, as I needed to deep clean all the hutches due to a fungal outbreak *groan*, I put all the pigs out in their runs. I'd just finished eating my lunch while the hutches dried, when I heard our cat meowing. I went to let him in, and he just kept meowing at me and turning round like he wasn't sure that he wanted to go in. He then wandered over to the door and I looked out - and Freddie was sitting in a long patch of grass munching away quite happily! He'd escaped!
Luckily, it was Freddie and not one of the girls. I sometimes let the boys run free under supervision because I know I can trust them not to run off somewhere silly, and they're easy to catch. I'd positioned the run on an uneven part of the grass, and as it was so long in that particular area, I hadn't seen the small gap that Freddie somehow managed to squeeze himself through!
Goes without saying that everytime I moved the run after than I went round all the edges to make sure there were no more escape routes!
