I lost my lovely Enid last month and Millie has been on her own since. She's been ok but has definitely lost some confidence.

I dropped her off at Gertie's Lonely Guinea Pig Rescue last night and she's had a date with a neutered boar called Dodger. They've been getting along fabulously and hopefully they'll both be coming home with me tomorrow.

I had previously tried bonding Millie with my other girls but she was terrified so I'm so glad she's found a friend!IMG-20210928-WA0004.webp

That’s lovely news :) I hope they continue to bond x
They've been together since last night and they seem to be getting on really well. No aggression or dominance. Just snuggled up together and chilling out. I'm so pleased for my Millie!

The rescue said that Dodger was part of a boar pair but they fell out and he wouldn't accept another boar. So they had him snipped to be paired with a sow. He seems very keen on Millie so far! She's the first sow he's ever met.

Oh Millie. Well done you. What a beautiful couple you and Dodger make. Please let us know how you get on 🤗

He looks like family and very much like a happy bond! Fingers very firmly crossed!

Stunners. Glad they have found each other. ❤️
Apparently he was bonded with a boar and they fell out. He used to be very dominant but the woman at the rescue said he was "broken" since the falling out. They tried pairing him with a few boars but he was terrified of them all. It seems like him and Millie were just meant to be. 🥰

So Dodger has been home a couple of days now and is already making mischief. He doesn't yet understand how to control himself around the ladies so poor Millie is getting no peace (she may also be in season which isn't helping). And he's been nibbling the correx so I've had to add nibble guards right round the cage.

He's a very sweet boy though. He just let's me pick him up and doesn't mind a little cuddle. He had a go in the playpen yesterday and really enjoyed pootling through the tunnels. I'm not sure if he had floortime at the rescue so may have been a first for him.

I'm sure things will calm down and they'll settle into a routine. Does anyone have any advice? He's my first boar.20211001_095750.webp20211001_095330.webp20211001_152836.webp

He's gorgeous. It's early days, hopefully he'll calm down a bit. I got a young boar in July who's always biting bars, jumping on things, squeaking, racing about. Very different to any pig I've had before. Floor time seems a good idea to let him let off steam.

He's spent most of the day sleeping in the hay loft after his exertions through the night. Millie's taking the opportunity to have a nap too.

Dodger sounds just like a normal, happy and very excited boy to me - having a girl who loves him and has seasons as well exploring his posh new home.

Give him time; right now he has several Christmases, Easters, birthdays and holidays all wrapped in one to discover, enjoy and get used to...
