Betsy's Guinea Pigs

Well the trio survived their first night in the Penthouse Suite of Betsy Towers without incident and have all morning cuddles, combs (Misty and Bramble) and coriander. (Saxon just had a very quick cuddle after a weigh in - a small loss from yesterday but nothing to worry about I just want to make sure he's eating enough hay in his new home). Saxon didn't think it was a good idea to take the coriander from my hand so I put it in the hutch with him. He loves a snugglesafe and hopped straight back on it as soon as he was back in the hutch. They all have had their breakfast pellets which they were running about finding in the hay. I'll keep them in the hutch for a few days before I pop them in the run for the day as I think it's best to get them settled in one environment before introducing another especially as Saxon needs stability atm having been in several different places over the last few weeks.

Saxon is a rumbler! He rumbles a lot. He has a vet check next week.

Dear Saxon,
I am very glad to hear that you are a rumbler.
It’s very important to develop a good repertoire of rumbles for our wives.
I am a world class rumbler, even my slave thinks I’m a better rumbler than the legendary Micah.
I look forward to hearing all about your rumbles.
Love & rumbles from Moses

A very handsome boy indeed 🥰. Selwyn agrees that the whole rumbling thing cannot be overdone!

Saxon has lost weight since he arrived here on Wednesday (around 40g). I know it's just cos he's settling in and everything is a bit strange for him atm. He is eating hay but clearly not enough. I've got some Readygrass which I am giving the trio and I'm topping Saxon up with syringe food. He wasn't very sure of it at first and kept trying to take the syringe out of his mouth with his foot, but now he seems to be OK with it. I think he's a bit of a diva like Thea was cos he refuses to gollop it from the bowl and insists on the syringe.

Hopefully he’ll settle in soon. 🤞🏻

I hope lovely Saxon settles down soon - it’s a big exciting change for him 🥰

Mine seem to prefer the syringe too, although they will eat from a bowl sometimes. Hopefully it’s just because he’s settling in.

Asked The Rescue about Saxon's backstory. They don't know much. All they know is that he was amongst several boars who came to them as a few singles. He must have been in some sort of altercation as he has a small tear in his left ear.

I wouldn't be concerned about Saxon's small weight loss. I have found that all my boars have lost weight over the first week or so and then have regained it. Possibly lost weight due to a combination of a new home and having girls to chase (this uses lots of energy).
