Bloat Diagnosed! Healing Vibes And Advice Needed

Went to take some toys and hay to pinky at the vets and I got to see him... he seems to be doing a bit better and not in half as much pain which is great. He was eating some hay and is accepting plenty of the syringe feed they give him

That's good news. Ziggy's bloat came back a further 2 times before me managed to see it off. Even now a whiff of a bloaty food and she is balloon shaped!

Oh no awful isn’t it! The vet said this morning that his prognosis was poor as it’s happened again but tbh I didn’t really take any notice of that, as I know many people like yourself that have come through the other side of the dreaded bloat!

Sending him lots of love. We had a girl prone to bloat, we had to keep food diary in end to work out what veg was setting her off.

She had two really bad episodes our vet always gave us a supply of metacam, Metachlopromide and Zantac to keep at home for when it flared. Sending lots of love and vibes, please keep us updated x

Pinky’s still bloated today, his belly seems bigger today after I felt we were getting somewhere how long have other people experienced their pigs having bloat for? Can it sometimes take weeks to fully recover? I’ve been syringe feeding him in place of giving him veggies, but he’s still having mostly hay and some pellets. Going back to the vets tonight as he’s nearly out of metaclopramide and he’s in pain today.

It comes and goes, and it can take a long time to settle down. Severe bloat is not an issue that is over after the first round.

The food diary is a good idea- I’ll try that when he’s better

Pinky is a lot better, eating and drinking on his own now, and he’s a lot less bloated. The injections at the vets worked really well, so I got to take him home this morning! He’s tucking into some hay

Yes got the ranitidine, metaclopramide and metacam to take home. I might have to phone up and get a bigger supply of metacam though as she only gave me 3ml in total

Update! Stopped Pinky’s metaclopramide, ranitidine and metacam 3 days ago, as the bloat seemed to completely go, and I have used a whole syringe of fibreplex. This morning he is still bright, eating and drinking and pooing, although the poops have been normal, there have been a few odd shaped ones. I have started the meds again today just in case.
The fibreplex seemed to help a lot with the bloat. And I have been using pro C probiotic for the last 2 days instead.
Would it be an idea for pinky to have fibreplex long term? Or should I have continued it for longer post bloat? Any ideas appreciated!
