hey guys. Senna (one of the Glasgow 40 rescues) bloated on Saturday night. Though I think I caught it early as her stomach wasn't hard and distended. Just a little podgy looking - had thought possibly pyo. Took her straight to the vet school who ultra sounded her and confirmed gas bloat.
She was put on metoclopramide and baytril and I separated them into separate cages so I could monitor her input/output. i supplemented these meds with gripe water, infacol and fibreplex, although she hadn't stopped eating/pooping - she had slowed down.
She seems to have been back to normal since Monday afternoon although I'm just finishing what I have of the meto and baytril.

Do you think I can put them back together again or should I still be monitoring very very closely her eating etc?

Hello, poor little thing. I would put them back together, but mainly take her out to feed. How are her poo's looking now? We had a piggy who was prone to bloat and she was on Metachlopromide long term at times.

It may be worth getting a bit more Gut Stim off the vet to keep at hand. Is she back on veggies now?

I would personally put them back together. Having companions can speed up recovery. If your concerned a out her amounts of poo or eating then wait but if she's back to normal then I wouldn't hesitate putting them back together.

I just tried them together and there were hackles and much teeth chattering. They were never 100% together beforehand either.... I really don't want to stress her so soon after a bloat episode?
It seems I may have to attempt some re bonding... But maybe they're just not 100% compatible anyway.
They argued a lot more often than they snuggled! How often is too much for rumbling and teeth chattering? This should possibly go in a new thread....

For now though, if it's going to be stressful for her is it worth it right now?

Yet they're now wheeking at each other across the room....

Oh and sorry I haven't tried her with veg yet again as was worried about a relapse, but I'm sure she'd love some...
What is the best to start her off on again? I have peppers in the fridge if that's any good?

We kept a food dairy to find out what set off Treacy's bloat.

I would advise avoiding anything like Cabbage, Kale, broccoli, dark greens tend to cause gas so avoid to begin with. Maybe try Cucumber, pepper, celery and start off slowly and monitor. Start off with only one veg and slowly increase. Love to Senna
