Treacle suffers from colic and was bloaty last sunday but with her usual few days of metachlopromide returned to normal, but unfortunately Treacle has been bloaty again today. 7 hours without poo, lots of massaging and 2 doses of metachlopromide seems to have pulled her round... as we have just had poo, it was mucus covered and had lots of white jelly in it, but at least she's passing it again. We were fearing an emergency vets visit tonight.
She started bloating this morning after returning from the vets. Can't work out whats causing it, but hoping she has turned corner now.
Gonna be setting alarm through the night to make sure everything ok.

Oh no! Poor baby. I really hope she is okay. Stupid bloat. Why do they have to get it. Get well soon little one.

Oh no poor Treacle! Hoping that you can find the cause of her bloatiness, and get her feeling right again. Get well soon lovely girl. xx

I wish I knew, thought it was certain veg but sunday and today have turned that theory on its head... She's had a few celery leaves to eat just, I know she shouldnt eat veg but was desperate to get some food in her.... She's nibbled on hay, have CC at the ready and she's due some more metachlopromide in a while. Poor girl getting no luck on top of her bladder problems :( Hoping now we have 6 poos more will follow. x

Six poops is good! Hopefully she will keep going. Come on little one.

So releived, more big wet poos - size of torpedoes, poor Treacy :( massive poos are normally a sign her system is kicking back in. She let me stroke her in the cage so I know she was feeling poorly... Cookie is nuzzling her, bless her she must know she's not feeling well.

Poor Treacle! Just when you thought you'd sussed out the veg. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you've turned a corner this evening x

Fingers crossed that the big poops are a good sign. Are you having to syringe feed her? x

No, we haven't yet, she's ate some hay and in the past 30 mins has started eating more and more. Her tummy is no longer hollow sounding and she's had her third dose of metachlopromide, in fact as i'm writing she's just made her way to pellet bowl :) and the Timothy hay. I am so relieved, had set up bed next to the cage so can monitor her throughout night.

Is Treacle diabetic? My Bette used to get very bad bloat.
No, her sister Cookie is the diabetic one. How often did Bette bloat? Did you find a trigger?

Edit: More poos!

Glad she seems to be making progress. I know how you feel, you seem to wait forever (getting worried) for them to poo and then it all comes at once ;)

It feels like a long day, waiting for the gut stim to kick in and the massaging to break up the gas... This is the 2nd worst she's ever been, we were both quite worried, she normally recovers in around 4 hours... Just pleased to see her looking better and up and about. Thank you for your kind thoughts, hope Ruby is still doing well x

Ah sorry was thinking Treacle was the one with Diabetes, erm I think Bette's illness was the trigger. Once Treacle is better I would try her on a pellet and hay diet only introducing veggies gradually one by one to try and find the trigger.

Has she lost any weight?

Has she lost any weight?

Last Sunday she lost 60 grams after bloating and the week before had dropped 40 grams which i put down to fluctuation at the time, she put it back on in a matter of days, She is back to her usual 1.27kg, she is a big piggie but not fat, big framed bless her.
She has lost none since weigh in last night, I was expecting a loss... Just watching her now she is eating hay like a pig possessed, More poo also!

Am going to reintroduce slowly as you say, the only thing I can think is green beans, it's frustrating because we seem to be making headway with the bladder problems with Cookie but can't introduce the same regimne to Treacle yet because of her delicate Eco system.

Poor Treacle, bloat is such an awful thing. I've done the sitting up massaging tummies and on poop watch so can sympathise.
It's so hard not letting them have veggies when they really want them.
I let Matilda have a little piece of celery today because she was wheeking the house down because everyone else had some and she's bloated back up again an hour later.
I hope Treacle is on the mend very soon.

Poor Maltilda, I read her thread, hope she begins to improve too. Am keeping her in my thoughts *hugs* x x

Just to update, Treacy was climbing up bars for breakfast this morning and looking non bloaty, she is eating lots of hay and she's just about to have her emeprid but is seeming much brighter and there are plenty of her poops from overnight. She's going to be on hay for the next 24hrs before we give any veg.

Hey just catching up with this, glad to see the bloating is easing off. Just to add green beans are a for bloat, I steer clear as only a little bit bloats my boys, think some pigs just react more than others x

:( oh no! Hope she makes a full recovery, sounds like you're doing everything you can for her!

oh no poor Treacy! Sorry i have only just seen this, no advice or experiences on bloat, but she is in safe hands with you. I hope she is back to her normal self very soon. Lots of love and healing vibes x

It's a really good sign that she's wanting food. Bloat can often make them feel so bad they look really sorry for themselves.
Yep a hay diet for a bit longer. Excel do a nice mix of dried herbs which is good for variety and makes hay a bit more interesting!

How's Treacy doing? Been thinking about her today and hoping that she's improved x

Thank you x
Treacle is ok, her poo's are slightly mucus covered again this morning, but she's eating hay, she's lost 60 grams in weight from when she was bloaty so that's to be expected on veg rations... She's ate some cucumber this morning and is nomming hay and just had her Emeprid, hoping by tomorrow she'll be back to normal.

Thank you all for advice and thinking of her x

I am so glad she is doing well. I was worried when you did not say how she was last night.

Sorry, your very sweet. I didn't manage to get on last night to update. she is now nibbling on the hay tube :)) so must be feeling better. X

So pleased she is on the mend. Bloat is such an awful thing. My boy suffers with it and it flares up every now and then as it did quite badly a few days ago. He has Metaclopromide and Zantac which has really pulled him through. It's a good sign Treacle is eating. Makes you so happy when you see them start to eat again! x

Oh no - I'm so sorry I've not seen your thread ") You've always supported me when any one of our piggies have been poorly and feel terrible now that you're going through this :(
I have no experience of bloat in piggies (to date) but believe a gentle car ride helps move the gas around but it is sooo bloomin cold to take the little one out.
She couldn't be in better hands and know you have a great vet on hand.
Massage as you're doing and the meds. hopefully will help Treacy feel better very soon, if there's anything I can do, you know where to find me :)
Hugs to all x

Just wanted to update on Treacy-Bum's bloat. She is doing well, still on Metachlopromide twice daily and pooing, the poops are a little large but she is pooing. Have only introduced 3 types of veg back into her diet at moment and we have a check up booked at the vets for next week. Thanks for all your kind messages and vibes x x
