Blodwen my precious wonky flower you do love to keep mummy and daddy and all the vets in North West England on their toes dont you!
Blod's breathing very bad today, wouldnt wait for her referral appointment on Monday... worried all day, waiting for vet to phone back... vet phones back, let's try her with furosamide but they dont have it in stock in piggy doses, just dog size pills, maybe try human pharmacies, much panic, lovely vet Sara noticeably upset she didnt get our message earlier... Blod booked in first thing tomorrow with head vet Clare at local practice prior to expensive referral vet first thing Monday...

I get off the phone, what do I see? My precious wilting flower who wont last until her monday vet on appointment without 2 extra vets in the meantime ordering in special meds for her and seeing her as an emergency...HUMPING CLOVER'S FACE and sprinting up and down :)

Bloddy pig!
Oops says Blod, erm... cough, wheeze, honk, gurgle (see you later Clover when they arent watching) Got any more bisolvy apple slices? Ooh double loxicom tonight is it?

Ooo blodwen, you are certainly keeping your slaves on their toes!

Just keeping you on your toes! I hope Blod gets rid of the nasty honking breathing for good soon. Sending healing vibes.

She’s a bit of an enigma wrapped in a riddle, isn’t she?
That's one way of describing her, yes! Just so relieved she looks brighter than this morning, we've been told to double the loxicom and bisolvon for now and she has the first emergency appointment booked tomorrow by which time hopefully some furosemide liquid can be sourced- but whatever is going on this is not just a URI there is far more to it and she goes from completely fine to alarmingly gurgly honky wheezy... then back again... in a couple of hours! Bloddy pig :) I love her so much!

Blod, Blod, Blod...you've got this all backwards. You're supposed to act really well and happy when they're looking and sick when they aren't! The slaves get bigger heart attacks that way. Trust me on this one, I'm speaking from experience... >.> <.<

We're speculating it might be a heart thing, causing fluid in her lungs, we're noticing when her breathing is bad she looks puffy, not just fluffed up fur but a bit like a water ballon but squishy and soft... then suddenly she's fine again, but everyone is just guessing at this point- bring on the expensive diagnostics next week!
I suggested to puggy daddy he transfers some money from his savings into his current acount to pay the vet bills, he said how much, I said all of it lol :)
Well he spent £1000 getting the car fixed last month and surely Blod is worth more than that? He agreed of course!

Oh Blodwen! You really don’t know how to play to the slaves’ emotions do you. Don’t let them catch you humping Clover’s face. I mean she may enjoy it but now isn’t the time 😳

PS please don’t show mummy slave up tomorrow...

All the best for the coming appointments.

Oh poor a Blod, water medicines just might be the best thing for her by the sounds of it x
Yes I think so too, but I do hope the Rutland House vets can eventually get a proper diagnosis for Blod with some fancy CT scans and ultrasound scans and things- its awful just guessing and treating the symptoms when the happen, I'll be much happier if we can have a proper long term treatment plan even if its meds and monthly check ups for life to manage things- she's only 3 and she's such a happy friendly piggy, she's the social glue holding my herd together, couldnt imagine losing Blod...!
I've been so sad and worried today but no honking at the moment and all dosed up for the night with 1ml cat loxicom and a generous portion of bisolvon sprinkled treat veg and fruit :)

I think the Metacam works a treat. Ginger has an occasional honk, it‘s always happened after I‘ve clean them out. I dose of Metacam (dog 0.3ml) and it’s gone within an hour. I think Ginger has a particularly sensitive/narrow nasal passages, the vet thinks that too. Hope you can get to the root of the problem, I can fully understand your worry and she’s such a lovely piggie x

Oh Blodwen you horror. Womble did this to me last week also... frightened the life out of me and as soon as he got to the vet he was fine. I hope all goes well at the specialist, thinking of you. 😊🐹

Morning update: Blod is very perky today :)
I didnt sleep fretting about her, got up at 6am to check... she was dancing about, ate a big bowl of cucumber and babycorn chunks, dived straight in the hay... last seen humping Piggle up and down the cage at a galloping pace!

So good she’s feeling perky today, I think she’s trying to make a fool of you with Miss Molly x

Glad to hear Blod is feeling a little better today. Hopefully the specialist vet will be able to get to the bottom of the problem. Sending healing vibes. x

I'm a bit intimidated, Blod has set herself up as a piggy mafia boss in the hayroom with 2 bodyguards? She doesnt look at all impressed with all the vet attentions and vet plans does she...? That's some serious "pig eye" grudge she's got going on...! Still no honks today, just some scary hormonal attitude...! I'm not as scared as Theo though he is hiding under a pee pad with his paws over his eyes :)

Oh Blod, you are such a stinker! I'm glad you're feeling well enough to have jumpy fun times though. FYI @PigglePuggle, when Flubs had funny and then awful breathing it was a last-ditch injection of diuretic that clued us into his heart condition.

Like Blodwen, he had a very puddle-like stature, like a half-filled water balloon! The diuretic changed his body shape completely, he was so much more compact, like a barrel. He's starting to puddle out again but we can't up his diuretic as it makes his tummy dodgy when we do poor lad. Fingers crossed for the vets!

After our emergency crazy injections we used dog/cat furosemide -- 5mg twice a day (very high dose but he was full of fluid) , a 20mg pill halved, crushed, and dissolved in 2ml of water did the trick for dosing. We've since switched to Frusol as my dyspraxic hands can't crush the tiny pill effectively...

Oh dear that BLODDY PIG...!
Has abruptly stopped eating :(
Eating hay fine this afternoon, gave her the evening meds, served dinner... she ate 3 pellets and a quarter of a cucumber slice then walked off, nibbled one strand of hay... and then tensed up and pulled the face of tummy upset, went and sat facing a corner looking sad...
I guess this may be a doxycycline thing...? She's never stopped eating before!
So I encouraged her into a fleecy house that catches poops well to monitor output, and a couple of hours later we do have poops and her tummy is soft, but... wont eat.
Luckily I found a tube of fibreplex in the piggy first aid kit drawer that I panic bought just in case during the first lockdown, gave her a bit...
So another sleepless night, then tomorrow's plan is:
8am frusol, doxycycline, loxicom, bisolvon
Try encourage eating
10am fibreplex
Monitor poops and tummy, phone vets
Maybe some recovery food?
Clean out all the piggy cages...
Then repeat the meds
Encourage eating or syringe feed
More fibreplex
...and repeat. Daily. For ages.

I really wish Bloddy Pig (aka the chlamydia duck of doom) would just stop all this and get better...!

Come on bloody Blod. Please be a good girl for mum, dad (and all the piggies on this forum) and have more than a nibble.

Hugs @PigglePuggle
