Dental Blodwen - dental and ringworm

If you could do multiple"likes" I would - I just love the fact that Blod started eating straight away for piggy daddy. He obviously has such a bond with her. 😍 Onwards and upwards Blodwen!
Blod loves her daddy, she ate 5mls of critical care and 2 spinach leaves but she's a bit zonked out so we're going to try feed her again in 3 or 4 hours :)

Both sides of her back teeth have had spurs removed, the vet hopes she'll be ok now once she starts eating hay... but no way to know for sure as she never had much hay in her previous life, they hope she will get the idea of hay pretty fast and she has a hay tray full of very soft green meadow hay to start off with if she feels inspired! Think we'll have to wait until she meets the herd and see how fast she picks up normal eating habits...
We've generally found the ones who have had a very poor diet, with barely any hay, are the ones who completely cure, once they have access to plenty of hay and a good diet. Will keep everything crossed for your little lady x

Piggy daddy is going to start trying to hand feed her hay and pellets at syringe feed time as well as her critical care and veggies, the vet thinks she should get plenty solid food pretty much straight away and Blodwen might be pleasantly surprised how much easier it is to eat it now!

Piggy daddy is settled on the couch with a beer and Blodwen and a pile of hay and he'll keep feeding her 3 strands of hay at a time until our veggie lasagne is ready in an hour :)
But she eats hay now! 8 hours after dental surgery!

Great news. Hopefully she will be with her new friends soon. You are both doing an amazing job with Blod. 😁

This is wonderful news.
So hopefully she’ll get the all clear for the ringworm and as she eats more ‘normal’ food her health, strength and weight will pick up too.
Looking forward to seeing more pictures of this beautiful girl and hearing stories when she joins the herd

Hmmm may have to have words with Blod and piggy daddy... although it is of course fantastic news that Blod's teeth and guts are working fine after surgery, perhaps if this sort of thing plops on the laminate flooring after a feed then piggy daddy could get a tissue?20181123_211024.webp

Nom nom nom that hay is disappearing, soft green meadow hay and 5 of those grass seed ear bits out of the timothy hay plus the stalks! I just want to hug my vet right now :)
I should think a nice card or letter would do ;) , don't want to risk passing anything on to their other patients!
Sounds like that's piggy daddy's weekend all sorted ...

Blod is very well today! Maybe the teeth were causing her more pain than we realised, she's much happier now and is moving her cage furniture around like a normal pig (she's put her sleeping bag in the hay tray for some reason) :)

:lol!:

I'm glad Blod is behaving like a normal pig. She has probably been in pain for so long it must be lovely for her to suddenly not have it any more. She will never have that pain again now she is being looked after properly:). There is nothing worse than toothache as it seems to hurt your whole head. Hopefully the ringworm has cleared up too and she can join her new herd and Jezabel Floofy Pants can look after her.

Yay! Go BlodyPig :yahoo::yahoo::yahoo:. Does it look like she might have carried on eating hay overnight without Piggy Daddy's tender ministrations?

There were 12 poops in the hay tray this morning so I think there might be some independant hay eating going on!
Excellent news! Piggy Daddy has obviously done well introducing her to yummy hay. Now she is having a correct diet she will get better nice and quick and keep wearing down her teeth.

We've tried to adapt the syringe feeding so rather than 10mls critical care, she's having 3mls critical care, then being hand fed 3 or 4 pellets plus 3 or 4 little tufts of hay, then another 3mls critical care. I'll keep weighing her obviously to check she isnt losing weight, and she's got plenty nice dinner and hay in her cage!
