Blood in urine

he needs an xray so that you know whats going on.but he sounds too weak to come through the anasthetic. To me because you said hes peeing blood and white stuff it could be a stone in the bladder or an infection of the bladder. I would stop the steroids and go and ask for zythromax antibiotics, its strong and would knock out any infection if there is one. The only way is up. I would try that.

Vets4Pets Bournemouth - Google Search you could try this place. I read in the reviews that someone has taken there rabbit here with a good star rating. And they are open 24/7 no extra fee. Even if you can get some better antibiotics than baytril would be a good start. Or if you can get a urine test done

Yea dot does that to me a bit. I find the best position is to sit the pig on your knee or lap. Faced away from you . Kind of diaganol so you cant still see the head. And use you left hand to hold your pigs head to lightly guide it. It sounds a bit cruel. But they soon give in.

The more you get in and they feel better, the more i find they let you

He seems more alert today saw him eat a tiny bit of hay and water but only a nibble on food. He hasn’t eaten food since Tuesday now. Still no wee or poo 😢. Am I clutching at strawers? They told me to call them but I don’t want to give up yet. I’m worried by force feeding him he won’t eat on his own.

Have you looked on the vet locator I linked in my last post.He should really be on painkillers, a lot of the time pigs won’t eat if they’re in pain x

As he had steroid injection they can only give him morphine. And that would make him sleepy so he wouldn’t eat.

Steroids aren’t recommended for guinea pigs.They probably aren’t very savvy.Keep on syringe feeding as you are, try and offer parsley or dill etc as I find poorly pigs seem to like herbs more than usual.Have a look at the vet locator and if there’s one within reach I would advise to get him seen tomorrow x

I didn’t understand the vet locator as it just came up with all the vets in the area.

Yes if you scroll through the list it comes up all the vets that forum users recommend, I had a look and couldn’t see any in Bournemouth but there may be a place in the next town etc x

Yes in Dorchester. He definitely needs painkillers

Yes I will I’m not convinced everything has been done. He’s so much better today just can’t get him eating and pooping

No I didn’t in the end as my vet used to work with guinea pigs at Berlin Zoo. I went to vet though and he gave him a laxative type injection. If he hasn’t pooped by the morning they are admitting him for ultrasound. From everything I have read and what you have all told me this seems like the right course of action?

To be honest I’ve never heard of a laxative injection in guinea pigs.Ill tag @Jaycey as she might have more experience.

I’m not sure I’ve phoned and asked. He hasn’t squeaked since having it and every time I touch his tummy he shakes. Did I do the wrong thing? He was so well this morning
 
You should syringe feed. Sounds like your pig could have bladder stones or an infection.
