I’m absolutely gutted, Lottie and Lion weren’t compatible.
My friend showed up with Lionhearted in her arms for me to try him out with the 2 little girls (Their not little.. I’m not sure why I still call them that lol).
I laid out a blanket and popped them all down. All was going really well, friends had to leave quite quick as they had an appointment. So I sat on the floor with a coffee and watched them for an hour or so. The was only one little rumble strut and a quick hump. But other than that they were all happy exploring and making friends.. I thought.
But then once I put them away in the freshly cleaned and extended cage, Lottie and Lion were at each other, Lottie was really going for him. They were crashing against the bars at one point, and I even saw fur flying :( Emily and Lottie stayed ‘upstairs’ for the rest of the afternoon too scared to come down. And when Lottie did, She and Lion were just rumblestrutting or having a go at each other.
I decided to give up and walk him back up to their house
Lion was really enjoying his new potential home, he loved the hay tray, had about 6 drinks in half an hour. And loved sitting on the comfy fleece stuff. And I was looking forward to giving him a bath and trimming his hair.
Now he’s back out in the cold and wind, in his little cage with 3 others.
I’m really disappointed it didn’t work. What a shame.:bye:

I left my piggies in the bonding pen overnight as the first time i tried them in the cage there was a lot of chasing and squealing (and Peggy ran into the side of one of the hidies and banged her face. Sometimes it can take a while for things to settle. Maybe put Lionheart in a pen where the girls can get used to seeing him before introducing them again on neutral ground. If no blood was drawn it might be worth another try.

Thank you.
might try again tomorrow, perhaps in the grass run this time!
unfortunately I don’t have the space anymore to put him next to the girls for a few days.

Just bear in mind that you may need to leave them together in the bonding area for a day or so before moving them to a clean cage.

I’m so sorry it didn’t work out with Lionheart and the girlies, what a shame! I felt gutted when He tor failed to impress my girls too, although they fell out with each other (Posh attacked Ginger) Girls are so complex, at least you gave it a try, sorry for Lionheart but is the other little male still looking for a home?

Thanks Yvonne. I do usually take much more time during bondings. And often leave them in a cage side by side for a few days. I felt a bit caught off guard today, and it was really hot in my cottage so I was getting stressed the pigs were uncomfortable.
will leave them much longer tomorrow, and if all goes well I’ll leave them somewhere that isn’t their cage for a few days. :)

Thank you! That’s always my worry when bonding, that I’ll upset the already bonded pigs! Girls and complex creatures lol!
Fugi? As far as I know yes.. but still haven’t heard anything from them!

I’m so sorry things didn’t work out :( I was gutted when Elizabeth and Edward (well, Elizabeth) didn’t bond with a pair of sows I tried them with last October and Elizabeth turned on Edward :( But they did bond with Ella and Esme in March. May be Lionheart just isn’t the right piggy for them but I am keeping my fingers crossed should you try again x

Hope it works out this time, i will have my fingers crossed for them.

To be honest it took about two weeks before my piggies really settled down together in the new hierarchy. There was often a lot of very loud submission squealing. Peggy remained top pig and Georgie seems happy with this. Mavis has always been bottom piggy but it really doesn't seem to bother her, she is a very laid back girl.

I’d say that it’s worthy trying again, too. if you try again you will know for certain whether they can work out their differences and accept each other. And I would also recommend leaving them for longer in the bonding one if you can, before transferring to the cage. Fingers crossed.

It is worth trying again. When Patsy met Christian and Meg for the first time it didn't go well as she was lunging at them so was a bit fear aggressive but then the next day she had obviously thought about it and on the second attempt everyone was much more friendly.
