hi guys,
i have two sows, currently 2 and a half months. when i have more space, i’d love to double their cage size and introduce two baby sows. is it easy to introduce two babies to two bonded adults? the dominant sow doesn’t like being handled but the other loves it, idk if that would affect anything. they are very friendly piggies who grew up around a lot of other pigs before i adopted them. i probably wouldn’t get them until at least next year, just wanted to know how easy it is
thanks
ryan

Any bonding comes down to character compatibility - all the piggies must like each other and want to be together.
If you are going to merge two separate pairs, then the new piggies ideally need to be younger than the two you already have. This way, the newcomers are less likely to challenge for dominance.
However, as there is never a guarantee with a bonding, the best thing is to take your piggies dating at a rescue centre. This enables them to choose their own new friends and assures you that the bond is likely to work for the long term.
If you buy two new piggies on spec, then you should have a back up plan in place for them to live separately in the case the bonding fails.

Four sows together need a cage of 7ft X 2ft or a 6x2 C&c cage.

they have a 4x2 atm and i am going to get another the same size to add on so theyll have a 4x4 when i have the space. i’ll definitely take your advice on letting them choose their new friends! i’ll definitely try and get them baby’s as my fern is very dominant and wouldn’t take well to being dominated herself😊
