We have just adopted 3 new girls that needed homes. One crested ruby-eyed beauty and two lovely skinny pigs. One skinny pig (Merry) and the furry one (Machalka) are doing really great, no rumblestrutting, nipping or anything. The third one (Pippin) though seems to be in season actually - she is humping and chasing and annoying the others quite a bit. Otherwise the bonding seems to be going well, but I'm worried that her being in season might ruin it since she is so fierce and hormonal right now and I'm afraid to leave them together in their cage throughout the night, but on the other hand don't want to separate them, because then they would have to start the bonding all over again in the morning. We had to make the cage a little bit smaller than we initially had it too (though it is still a 4x5 cc cage, should be plenty of room for 3 pigs?). What should I do? I really don't want to separate, but I don't want them to have a fight when I'm sleeping.

Of course they woke up when I went to take a photo, but here they are. Sorry for the mess, they have been running around like crazy and I didn't want to interrupt their bonding process. I haven't used a sewing machine since I was in middle school, but tried my best to make these tunnels for them :)

She may not be in season, I’ve found all bonding sessions sound like what you’re describing :))

They look like they’re getting on great, what’s a bit of humping between friends eh? :))

That's what I thought at first, that it is normal, but she also acts like in season when being separate. They have calmed down a lot right now, but she still tries the occasional hump and is VERY chatty while the others try to sleep haha
My other three girls in the other cage have been having really strong seasons this time as well... it has been a very loud few days

Haha I know the feeling, I’m currently watching my boss piggy in season. It’s like watching a squeaky chainsaw patrolling the cage with a smaller, more annoying chainsaw following her everywhere (my neutered boy) :))

I’m sure it will all settle down soon, hope they enjoy their first night together as roomies! :)

It is a lot calmer now - just caught them doing this:

The skinnies seem to love snuggling up to their new furry and warm friend

I love that last picture.
When young Jemimah had very strong seasons which felt like they went on forever.
She was a real pain, especially to her sister Keziah.
It was a trying time but eventually settled down.
Your girls seem to be well bonded so it’s probably a case of waiting it out.
If she doesn’t settle at all and seems to be permanently in season the get a vet check just in case it’s something else.
Ovarian cysts can cause similar symptoms.
My vet explained this so me when I told her about a Jemimah’s behaviour. Her advice was to keep an eye on her and they would check for cysts if necessary. I panicked, read all I could find, panicked a bit more and waited. All did settle down and peace reigned.

Please can we have more pics of those beautiful girls
