Ok well you may remember my post saying Bumble had a urine burn on one of her back feet so have been putting paw ointment on from gorgeous guineas. Last week I noticed what I thought was a bit of poo stuck to her foot but as it didn't come off readily I thought I would wait and remove it at bathtime this week (she's been lying in her wee and so her pretty white bum was all stained!).

So I get her out for bathtime today and I know she hates it, she was well behaved and her back paw looks to be healing nicely. However, this piece of "poo" did not come off and now I'm thinking after a closer examination that it is a scab! There appears to be a smaller one on the same foot. I've taken a couple of pictures although they are not overly clear and have massaged the ointment in well to all of her paws.

Does anyone have any ideas on what it could be? She is displaying no sign of pain or discomfort with any of this, eating, drinking and most definitely pooping as normal. She has not lost weight or anything... just same old bumble inbreeding

rolleyes thanks Wiebke, having read that its exactly what she has typical Bumble, can't let me rest a moment this one. Well looks like I'll get my mum round tomorrow to help me clip her as she barely stays still long enough for her nails!

Make sure that you do not cut too close to life skin, please!

Oh wow i never knew it was this my guinea has one and i thought it was just a cut on his foot that was heeling and had scabbed over. I will have to attend to this. :red

If you are concerned I would leave it as usually spurs don't really cause them any trouble unless they get long :)

I used to either snip a tiny bit off, or after their bath you can actually rub it away with you thumb as the water softens them.

bless. looks like hard skin on the bottom of the feet.....:o

How'd you go trimming the spurs?
One of my girls, Onyx, gets them too..... i usually make sure it trim them after a bath as they're a little softer then.

Yoshi had a couple of little spurs, I was too scared to clip them in case I got live skin so I just kept applying GG Kwench lotion every day until they pretty much disappeared.

Maybe i should put an order in at GG's then...... thanks for that info xx>>>

I think it's definitely worth having a pot in the medicine cupboard for them, it's great stuff. It cleared up Rocket's dry ears in double quick time too. :)

well I was too scared to try clipping them, I did rub it a fair bit after her bath as I thought it was a poop lol :)) Might just order again from GG and see if that helps, I'm a bit worried as it is getting long and on the side so feel like she might catch it

You could ask the vet to trim a bit off and then do her feet with lotion for a few weeks, see if that gets rid of the rest of it. x

I was thinking that as my vets don't tend to be too expensive, will try and call them and see if I can get in for saturday

Right well me and Bumble are off to the vets on Saturday morning at 9.30... might have to go to my mums and cut her some green spaghetti to make it up to her afterwards! lol
