Looking this thread makes me think its a good time for some of you to switch over to ss grainless
Have you got a garden centre with a pets corner chain shop? That seems to be area dependent though - I can’t get ss grainless in any of my local pet shops, they sell the normal version but not grainless. My two are having ss grainless at the moment but I only managed to get that as an add on item on amazon.
I’m sure burgess make the PAH brand toothats a bit weird, burgess are having problems, so now pets@home brand are?
Yes Burgess make the pets at home foodthats a bit weird, burgess are having problems, so now pets@home brand are?
I used to feed all burgess nuggets but stopped when i realised they use alfalfa hayI have to confess, mine are fussy but if I can't get Burgess I buy P@H nuggets with a hint of mint.
Also has anyone tried excel with a taste of blackcurrant? Mine go mad for it with a bit of pea flake for a treat!
My local independent pet shop doesn't stock SS Grainless, but will order it in for me if I ask. That seems to be area dependent though - I can’t get ss grainless in any of my local pet shops, they sell the normal version but not grainless. Harringtons has no alfalfa, another name for it is lucerneEveryone seems to be hating on Burgess Excel, it’s nade me skeptical, is it actually good quality food? If it isn’t are there any others you recommend?
Bit late but i have def seen harringtons in either morrisons or asda, i think it was asdaYes, I think it was only about £3 odd. I'm so disappointed they've stopped selling it
My local one only has the rabbit one and dogI've seen Harringtons in Tesco but that was a while ago.
just looked at Asda online and Harringtons is only £2.50 for 2kg at the mo!Bit late but i have def seen harringtons in either morrisons or asda, i think it was asda
Dot is on it at the moment. Burnie loves his grainless science stuff.just looked at Asda online and Harringtons is only £2.50 for 2kg at the mo!
I dont think rabbits are prone to bladder stones like guinea pigs are, part of me thinks are nuggets worth giving atall? I really dont think any nugget is brilliant. But i decided to not buy burgess after i had a pig get 3 bladder stones, but i was feeding too much back then anywayI think burgess are fine.. I’ve used them for my rabbits for years. I feed a mix of burgess and ss grainless when I can get hold of it.
it looks like Harrington’s contains Maize and from what I’ve seen I don’t think that they shouldn’t have that either, so I don’t think there is going to be much difference!
Pellets should only make up such a small portion of their diet anyway, that I think as long as you aren’t overfeeding them, then it shouldn’t be a problem...surely?

I still dont dare not to feed nuggets though lol. I might make a thread to get opinions. I hear vit d is important for indoor pigs and i dont know what veg contains enough.Yes , sorry I did mean in terms of guinea pigs not the rabbit.
And you’re right, they aren’t important at all

Yea sunlight is what indoor pigs arnt getting. It’s in things like fish, eggs and sunlight.....
Thats what i want to work out, are they getting enough from the veg? Alot of newbie owners feed muesli and thats full of rubbish so i dunoI’d love to stop feeding nuggets too but they like them and I’d feel guiltyPlus I’ve heard they still need the vitamins.
No offence to youMy Rainbow piggies Lenny & Gizmo refused to eat pellets and were on muesli as well as veg and hay for five and a half years.
None taken @Skypipdot! I had to feed them on something and as they refused the pellets I had to get the muesli even though it's like eating crisps and chocolate! No offence to you
