Hii guys, I recently adopted a new piggy for my remaining one after my older one passed, and wanna upgrade their cage to a C&C one. They currently have a ferplast one but i let them free roam as much as possible as i think the ferplast isn't big enough for one, let alone two. They're both boars, so I was thinking about a 2x4 or a 2x6, but am not sure which would be the better option. I know for piggies, bigger is always better but i have limited space. They've bonded quite well and seem to like each other, but wanna make sure the new cage is big enough for the both of them just in case they need time alone

The golden fur baby is Brambles, the new one, the other fur baby is Simon.

2x6 - the more space you can give boars the better. 2x4 isn't really big enough for a boar pair, you want 2x5 for that, minimum.

Oh I see. 2x6 unfortunately I don't have room for since I'm renting and they're in my bedroom, which is on the smaller side. I'll try to find a good 2x5 that's affordable, I'd like to upgrade the cage asap so they're happier. Thanks for the help

It’s great you want to upgrade their cage. Unfortunately ferplast cages arent big enough for a boar pair (the minimum for boar pair is 150x60 but that can be too small and 180x60 is recommended - the biggest is the ferplast plaza at 160x60 so still can be on the small side for boars) so you’re doing a good thing!
A 2x5 is the size needed for a boar pair.
When you do get them a bigger cage, as moving to a new cage will be a change in territory, it can set off dominance as they will need to reestablish their relationship in the new environment. Ensure you use soiled bedding from their current cage so that the new cage smells of them. It can help with the transition.
To add, I would also recommend that you reduce their pellets. The bowl in the picture contains far too many. They should only have just one tablespoon per pig per day

I love that you are giving your piggies the best setup you can! Look forward to pics when you get them set up. You’ll enjoy watching them in it 😁
