WOW! Your piggies will think it's Xmas again! I see you got the shampoo I got for mine, its lovely smelling.

To be honest it was a bit of a late Xmas present I couldn't go to pets at home before christmas(an hour away) so they didn't get anything until now. That's good I'll give my two a bath before they move inside I think they need it!

They are spoilt! I recommend choosing a food/bathroom area (they are the same thing after all!) and I chose the most accessible area for cleaning plus . I change their cage around every big clean to make it interesting, but my Bella always rearranges it all like a house wife anyway.

Oh and my girls love their bird mirror (vain little things!) and they LOVE bells. Anything with a bell on they love to ring. Cardboard boxes they like more than any house I've found, and they like the wicker tube I have they prefer to my cardboard one but the poos get stuck in the wicker haha. Just a case of finding out what they like/want, they will DEFINITELY let you know haha.

Oh and also might be worth getting some Lice 'n' Easy shampoo as I had to get some for the girls as they ended up with hay lice from, well, their hay lol. Idk what breed of piggy you have but a soft brush is definitely a good buy too, my girls enjoy it (although they are just short haired) and it helps get the loose hair off them.

I am going to start off using bedding as I have a huge bale of woodshavings left so I may as well finish that before trying fleece. I have lots of bird toys too that they can have. I have a Peruvian cross and a Rex. I have plenty of grooming supplies,I have a teddy double maned lionlop and a long haired Syrian hamster too so I really need them! I can't wait for their new cage to arrive!

The table in the picture is where the 5 x 2 c&c cage is going. P.s that's my rabbit's cage under the table,it's just used for sleeping he free ranges during the day.

That's a good idea, no point in wasting anything! Once you get the fleece you'll really wanna make a toilet area by the hay, saves me a lit of cleaning! I use a small cat litter tray, put in a nice amount of newspaper and some meadow hay, but they prefer to eat the timothy hay. 80% of wees and poos go in here so it's much easier to empty, clean and replace than completely clean all the time haha.

You piggies look like they're gunna be soooo spoilt! Very lucky piggies, and they sound beautiful! I'd love to see pics!

I was in jollyes today and they have a HUGE bale of meadow hay for around £8.Would this be a good litter? I use the burgess excel hay.For my rabbit I use a wood based cat litter for his litter tray which is quite expensive.,but he needs some sort of pellet as he is so fluffy hay gets stuck in his fur.

That sounds perfect! I wanna get a big value bag too but I'm using up a little bag atm. This is my set up.

The hay tray/litter tray.

(It also stops the hay going everywhere!)

This is my cage set up atm, it's not pretty because they've moved everything around and soiled everything XD

Cissy is in the snuggle sack bottom left, Bella is sitting on the fish (bad girl!) at the top right haha.

Hope this helps :)

That is a lovely cage set up they look like spoiled happy piggies! They're very cute!

Thanks! I got a hay ball that you hang in there that I put some treats like curly cage in that has a bell on it from P@H and they love that because it jingles XD You can't see their mirror in that pic though as it's near Cissy against the correx side.

I have a list of more snuggle furniture to make, they are very spoilt but you just can't deny little piggie faces!

I know the ball you are talking about mine is the one without the bell.If you don't mind me asking where did you get your c&c cage?

I made it, I got the grids and connectors from Way Fair and it was on sale at the time, very handy! It was advertised for a shoe rack psht haha (cost £28 I think) for a box of grids and connectors, but I can't remember how many were in there sorry! I bought 2 boxes that made my C&C cage plus the lid and I have plenty left over if I want to expand.

I got the correx on eBay, 4mm thick a I think and that cost about £18 but it was MASSIVE and also have loads of that left over haha.

So yea, bit of a DIY job but it was really easy, added some zip ties for support and the lid and it's doing the job nicely!

Oh and the clips that keep the lid secure as my cat might decide to jump up there... Although I've not seen her do it yet!

Just out of interest, how did you know your pigs had lice? I've not heard of that before. Are they the same as the fleas that cats and dogs can get? Just so I am aware of it and know what to look out for @Cavy Kung-Fu

I researched making it myself but because they are uk websites so delivery costs a fortune so it works out around the same price to buy a c&c cage from that website.

My girls have hay lice, you can see them in their fur and it's more noticeable around their poor little faces. They are like little brown lines moving in the fur and (apparently) they don't even have legs! Although I can't say I looked that closely XD

They are not like fleas as they don't hurt the piggies by sucking their blood, they eat dead skin. It's still gross! The lice come in the hay they eat so I'm guessing it's pretty unavoidable unless you microwave their hay (I've haven't done this yet I might add, so idk if it works or is alright).

I'm waiting to give them a bath and use Lice 'n' Easy shampoo, I'm just waiting for advice on my bathing thread.

When I was researching it was £150 for a 2x4 cage I believe, so mine worked out cheaper at around £70. Plus I can easily expand with my left over bits and bobs, maybe even another cage.

That link is the ones I have, they're on sale right now (not as good as the sale I got but still) they go on and off sales every few weeks at different prices I've found so worth keeping an eye out. They're brilliant, easy to use (clips are a bit tricky but they're okay).

Oh and you can get cheaper correx but I wanted really thick stuff. I did look at 2mm stuff that was dirt cheap on eBay but decided I wanted it to last as long as possible.

Hope this helps!

I just estimated the delivery cost to Belfast & Dublin and it says the same as UK, £4.99. It also says orders over £40 you get free delivery but idk if that applies.

For a 2 x 5 cage (including delivery) it works out at around £80. Your cage set up is great I can't wait until mine arrives!

I didn't try wayfair I used amazon to check on amazon the 20 pack of grids delivered to Donegal would cost €60.

Do they send you the correx too? Does sound like a good deal still.

Wowza yes I didn't use Amazon, it was way too expensive and I have to be a savvy shopper to get all my bits!
Eventually I want to make a massive cage and have more piggies, so I'm waiting for the bargains and going to gather up cage grids when I see them cheap haha.

Yes the correx is already scored and prepared for a 2 x 5 cage. I payed £5 extra to get black correx,I'm hoping the pee stains won't show as much if it's black. I have my guinea pigs in a massive enclosure now it's a 6 x 8 shed all to themselves, but I would rather having them indoors.

Yes I know what you mean, plus seeing them all the time is lovely! I have black correx and tbh I wish I'd got white as there are now white wee marks in certain places that won't come off lol. It doesn't show once they have fleece inside though. My piggies don't drink very much, if at all, so that might be why they're leaving white marks when they wee.

Oh I should have ordered white now lol I'm using shavings for a while, fleece will only be a trial run if I don't like it I'll change back.

Hopefully you'll like the fleece! I need to order some proper liners as I don't trust myself to make them (gotta wait for money first!) Atm I'm using towels on the bottom and fleece on top. But I find it's a lot easier to spot clean, either by hand or DustBuster, plus with their toilet area being easily removable for cleaning I think it's better personally :) Plus I'd worry about respiratory illness' with the shavings as I've heard so many bad things about shavings, especially cedar.

I think the shavings I use is pine. If I order liners I will order from Ziggy's piggies she has very good prices and products. The only issue I have with liners is money it costs alot to get two liners. I'm looking forward to trying fleece it will probably be another month maybe even two until I try it though.
