Cage sizes

Is 70" by 40" okay for a boar an 4 sows? They're all in a 6ft by 3ft cage right now and seem quite happy. I keep retaking measurements and checking how big it needs to be but I'm lost at this point and I'm not sure I can make it much bigger than this without including levels which don't really count

Always make sure it meets the minimum - which I am sure it does - and go as big as you can really... I only have 2 girls and they are in 5x 2 C&C cage

I think it meets the minimum but it's hard to tell since most lists of minimums stop at 3 or 4, they seem happy in a similar sized temporary cage but they aren't fully grown so I'm not sure their hierarchy has been established or if they'll want more space in the future
 
I'm not sure if you have missed this bit when reading the cage size guide:
Add 2 square feet (60x30cm) for any additional guinea pig.

from the minimum size for 3 or 4 and then following this rule you should be able to work out the minimum size for your group

No I saw it but it still confuses me, I think I've been looking at it for too long it's giving me a headache

2 x 5 is the minimum for 3 sows so I’d say for 4+ boar is 2x7.
 
4 guinea pigs 2x6 ft (180x60 cm) or 12 ft square = 2x5 C&C grid cage, recommended for 2 boars or 3 sows or 1 neutered boar/2 sows
Add 2 square feet (60x30cm) for any additional guinea pig.

According to that, you'd want 16 ft square for your 4 sows and boar. You've got 18 according to your cage measurements.
