Can Guinea Pigs Transer Illnesses To Human?

I was just curious if there was anything guinea pigs could tranfer to humans. Thanks

Fungal skin infections like ringworm can be transferred across species. It's always good to wash hands really well when dealing with an animal (or person) with ringworm or other fungal infections. However, as far as respiratory illnesses go, humans are not likely to catch illnesses from guinea pigs as most bacteria are host-specific. For the same reason, guinea pigs are not likely to catch a cold from a human.
