Captain Jack - Very Poorly

Poor fella! Should be grown back fully within a week. Tuppence managed 9 months with just one bottom tooth - hers was extracted from the root so it never did grow back. Teeth that break do grow in at a good speed though.

Yup i agree toofies grow back so quickly, until it grows back all you can do is shred or grate the food to help.....and of course syringe feed if you think necessary xx>>>xx>>> Oh poor little man he doesn't need anymore setbacks :p
Loads of loves and more healing wheeeeeeeeks this time for his toofies xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>xx>>>

Yep, my Fuzzypeg has broken his tooth before and also the vet has clipped them a little too far down before... grrrr I have found a method of giving him his veg that works a treat though...

Chop it up really small (no bigger than the size of a pea) and they seem to do ok with it. Hey, grating is a good idea too! Must try it in future. Also, they seem to so just fine with leaves, curly kale etc that is shredded up small. Nuggets go in a treat too so dry food should be ok.

Their teeth grow back so fast.

When my boy lost his upper incisors I chopped his food into long narrow slithers so he could still chew on his back teeth, which he managed very well. I did this for quite a while, giving him extra goodies and nurturing cos I thought they'd take ages to grow back. I left it probably about a week before I checked after him losing them and there they were all fully grown - carried on with his special nurturing for a bit longer tho cos he's soooo cute ^)

Hope CJ picks up, maybe it's just taking a bit longer cos he's an older babbie. Lots of love and hugs coming your way - see you Saturday xx

So sorry to hear he has a new problem. Scarby was always breaking teeth and they grew back - no problem.

Love to you both. xx

I agree with above! My boys are always breaking teeth - usually over disagreements such as being in the same 'air space'! Legolas currently has lost his 2 top teeth (not that losing weight will do him any harm, the big pig he is!) :)):))

Anyway, I have found from far too many experiences of broken teeth that grating is best. Put it in a small bowl & they can get to it, tip it over & eat - even when they have lost more than 1 tooth. Cutting it into small pieces works too, but it needs to be really small, so I have found grating is best & much quicker! :(|)

Keep going Captain Jack & Legolas hopes your tooth grows back as quickly as his top teeth do!

I'm so sorry, I lost my Mischief to a sudden lump on her neck - she had an operation, but the lump came back further inside her body only days after.

We were pretty shellshocked about the quickness of it all, so I can feel with you. Especially, when it happens to the one that's closest to your heart, and you haven't really got time to say a proper good bye to him!

Big cuddle from Vicky

Well I grated all of his veg for him last night (and served on a silver platter, LOL!) and he did eat more than he has been. He's also had some dried food and some dried grass, and fresh grass. I feel like a servant :))

He's almost finished his course of antibiotics now so I hope once they're finished he'll get even more appetite back (and his tooth!)

Thanks everyone

Sophie

Let's face it, guineas have us over a barrel & slaving away from the minute we pick them up! They are not in the slightest bit stupid! :(|):(|):(|)

It's good to hear that Captain Jack is doing much better & that he is eating! Let's hope he eats more & more & returns to his old self very soon!

Michele

ps/ the boys send more guinea hugs & squeaks your way!xx>>>

How's the little man doing today love?
Hope he's continuing to munch his way thru his 'restaurant' meals ;)
Lots more healing wheeeeeeks and toofie growing vibes xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi Sophie. Just catching up. I'm so happy that Captain Jack is doing so well. All credit to you to Sophie for all the extra tlc he's needed! :)

How is Captain Jack now after a weekend of munching & crunching?

I hope he is continuing to do well & that the wound is healing. My boys send more healing squeaks & wheeks his way!

Thanks everyone, he's doing well and gaining some weight. He's eating for himself a lot more, he's finished the baytril and is nibbling at dried grass. Felt bad at the weekend because everyone else was out on the grass and he's not allowed to until his stitches are all healed :(

He seems to be quite enjoying the space to himself - he was in a threesome before and they got along ok but I'm not sure he misses them at the moment!

Good to hear he is continuing to do well. Make sure you post pics when he is allowed back out on the grass again!

Just a happy update to say - Captain Jack is now eating normally, pooing normally, demanding greens normally, and his wound is just amazingly healed - the stitches have dissolved and there's not much to see at all! AND his tooth has mostly grown back!

I've not posted until now as I didn't want to tempt fate rolleyes but I really hope he's over the worst now. Thanks for everyone's advice and support
