Casper died yesterday. He was so beautiful and I miss him so much. He was white with a smokey coloured nose, ears and toes and his eyes were pink. He was very gentle natured. He died in my arms. He seemed so afraid and I'm thinking I maybe should have left him in his cage where he was resting quietly. I picked him up because I wanted him to feel close to me and feel my love for him and know that he wasn't alone. My heart is breaking. He was 4 years and 5 months old and came to live with me on Christmas Eve in 2006. My home is sad without him, he was the last of my 3 piggies. Many people just cannot understand the depth of loss and grief but I know the forum community will understand completely. I needed to tell someone who understands how special and beautiful he was. Babsmam.

No no no please dont think you should have left him in his cage!
You've loved him and cared for him for so long, how could you think he wouldnt want to die loved and at peace in the arms of the one person who truly loved him?!

What a wonderfull way to go, in your arms, loved, and protected. :)

And what a great long life that is! 4 years of love and affection from you? What a lucky pig he was. :)
I know you miss him and I know it hurts, but you must feel better because of the fact he had such a wonderfull satisfying comfortable life, right?!#

And I bet all our guinea pigs, when they're just about to leave us, realise just how much we love them, and just how special and beautifull they are, and so, they die happy and can look forward to the next place they go to knowing just how much they were loved.

So very sorry. I lost my guinea pig a couple of weeks ago and know how utterly heartbreaking it is :( RIP Casper.

Thank you all for your kind thoughts and messages. It really means a lot to me. He was a good little man and so very very special. :rose

I know how hard it feels to lose a friend. When I was little I lost my fish (they were my first pets) and I was so upset that I kept them in a box and cherished them. RIP Casper. 8...
