Caspy came to us at 5 months old because of a respiratory infection and sadly was taken away by one. He had been very ill and on medication for a month, he needed a home with someone who had time to care for him. He came with a note of his meds from his vet, the note also said his lungs and airways were compromised and she doubted he would make old age.
Caspy was the most active piggy I have ever known, what he lacked in size (he never weighed much more than a kilo) he made up for in energy. 6pm every day he would bite the bars of his cage to be allowed out. He would run around the downstairs of the house and bray like a donkey at any door that was shut. Once content all was well he would sleep under a cupboard until 10pm, veggie time! He loved the run on the lawn in the summer.
Recently he went down with another respiratory infection, he fought for weeks and seemed to be getting better until a few days ago. On Thursday morning he refused his syringe feed and asked me to let him go. I could see in his eyes and body language he was tired and had had enough. The vet agreed we had done all we could and helping him on his way was the right thing to do.
Caspy had a lovely life with his friends as part of a pair 3 times and later as a neighbour to Red, Brillo and Nugget. We all miss him dreadfully the house is so quiet. Night night sweetheart
