TheAurora
Adult Guinea Pig
Hi everyone
A lot of you have been messaging me asking about Casran so I thought I’d do a new update (hope I’m not taking up too much forum space).
The little chap seems pretty stable – as well as can be expected.
We’ve fallen into a nice routine… I get up early to spend some time with him and do his meds (lots in the morning and it’s a nightmare because he gets fed up and angry). Otherwise he enjoys breakfast on the sofa and then perches on the end of my knee to watch TV.
I’m at work all day but thanks to all the suggestions from forum members here, I’m trying to make his cage a bit more fun:
Note the radio at the end… he loves that. I came home last night and found him sat right next to it absolutely transfixed by a debate on Europe!
When I get home I give him a syringe feed, which sends him into a frenzy of excitement. He doesn’t really need syringe feeding but I put his powdered probiotic in and, somehow, both of us seem to get comfort from the syringe feed together. Last night I got everything ready but it was too hot and Casran was running round and round in circles on the sofa and jumping on the towel on my lap knowing what was coming and not able to contain himself.
He spends the rest of the evening on the sofa with me.
He’s still obviously a very poorly guinea pig. I don’t know which day will be the last day… for now I just kiss him and cuddle him a million times a day and sniff in that Casran smell as much as I can.
