Casran: The Lion Fights On

Hi @TheAurora I'm glad that Casran seems to be a bit better, I'll cross my fingers for him. I'm also glad that you've had the help and support from member of these forums.

Today my son went to the local chippy and there was a man serving, he asked my son how he was so my son told him he was a bit tired due to him getting up every three hours with an animal (Cesaro our guinea pig) he asked what animal and my son told him a guinea pig, the man thought it was funny and tried to make a joke out of it and said you can get one from the local pet shop for £15, my son told him that he's not just going to leave a sick animal and that he was quite sensitive towards animals (he takes after me lol), he said some other rubbish which I think my son chose to ignore, he thought it was ok to do that with a dog, but not a guinea pig... When my son told me about it I said a few swear words and then said... I've told people on the forums about what your doing and they get it, they understand and think you've done well... it's times like that when you realise that forums like this are more help than you think.

Anyway, sorry for going on, I was just so bothered by what he had said then looked through this thread and thought... see, people that understand and are trying to support Dawn.

That's lovely your son stood firm to his convictions.

I guess there will always be times in life that others do not share our priorities. but all that really matters is that certain things are important to us as individuals. Our priorities can become impenetrable - unaffected by outside influences. The people that matter will care about our priorities because they care about us.

My bosses have been very supportive towards me this week ... they couldn't actually give two hoots about guinea pigs but they have shown they care about me by caring about what's important to me. People that don't care about what is important to us, really shouldn't matter to us.

Ultimately, I think we all have things in our lives that are entirely uninfluenced by the opinions of others. These things are guarded by high walls and towers. These things are so important to us that nothing anyone else can ever say will change how we feel.

Casran is one of those things. Like your son's guinea pig is to him x

Glad Casran is doing well it's really good to hear, and wonderful to hear your bosses are being supportive, there are still lots of good people in the world although it doesn't seem like it if you listen to the news.
@Kerrie74 tell your son he's a real star looking after his animals so well, real men care and aren't afraid to show it. All piggies have their own characters and we get to love them, it's ridiculous to say you can just go get another one.

My parents are like that when I sat with my dying gerbil for 3 hours or when I took my guinea pigs to the vets my dad was just like you can buy a new one :( anyway sending hugs to Casran :)

Truly inspirational piggy owner, and sounds like an amazing bond you two have, Mr C is so very lucky to have a mummy like you!

Over the moon to hear he is still up and fighting, sending love xx

Awww, what a lovely thing to say.

Trust me, I'm just muddling through like everyone ... tee hee. Just hoping the things I get right outnumber all my mistakes, then I feel like I'm winning.

How is his breathing? Is it continuing to improve? x

Slow progress sadly.

I think he reveals more improvement under a stethoscope than he appears to be making by simple observation. When the vet listened to him she said things were much improved.

He still sounds like a trumpet to me.

But his breathing is calmer when he sleeps tho, which means he can now fall asleep laying down rather than sleeping standing up.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

That's good. It's probably better than it physically sounds then. It's still moving in the right direction and hopefully giving his heart a rest.
He's one brave boy x x x

I was going to say if he is a heart pig then I'm wondering if the noise may never completely go unfortunately :( It might be you will have to accept it as one of his little quirks. He'll always be your little lion, whatever noise he makes, except it won't be a roar;) xx

Can you refresh my memory, is he on any heart meds? like an ACE Inhibator? or just the diuretic?

Being able to rest properly is the most important element of his recovery, he certainly sounds to be going in the right direction :) x

Ok thank you, was going to suggest an ACE Inhibator if not. Can I ask what dose he is on? is it Fortekor?

I'm going to PM you the info because I'm worried about a situation happening again like in my last thread x

Ok, it was just if it is a fairly low dose I can tell you what my heart pigs are on so you can discuss with Sarah if needed.
