Casran Very Ill - Best Wishes Please

I just gave him the last 0.2ml I had to give him today.

I didn't mess around, and I didn't take any trouble.

I wrapped the towel tightly around him, held him close and when his head shoved me back I didn't let go, I kept hold of his jaw.

He opened his mouth and I slowly put it in at the side and I could see his gag reflex working.

No messing!

Then I gave him a slice of red pepper as a well done.

Great! It should get easier.

To make a wee tent for mallow i sat her on the couch on a blanket, and stacked 2 small tables (from a nest of tables) infront of her. The bottom table held the bowl of water/albas below her level so she couldnt touch it, and the top table was to hold a large blanket over the bowl and over her to create a tent. I would pull the cover back every now and again to make sure she wasnt getting overwhelmed x

This sounds great @Adelle ... I just need to adapt it slightly as Casran likes nothing better than to throw himself off the sofa (he thinks he can fly). As he'll be under the tent I won't be able to see him attempt it ... just the splosh as he hits boiling water. Eeek.

Now let me think!

Also, your gorgeous little piggy sounds very obedient to sit still like that!
 
Hmmmm I wonder if I could put him inside an upturned wash basket...

You could put him in the basket on the floor with some munchables, put the bowl beside him on the floor beside basket and put a blanket over the basket and bowl, leaving an opening at the back incase it gets too hot in there. I usually stick my hand in and see how hot it is (the tent i mean, not the bowl !) x

A plan is coming together!

He's sleeping soundly at the moment so I am going to leave him in peace as he hasn't been sleeping much with the breathing probs... I watch him try and sleep and every time his head drops he jumps back up sucking in air.

So I'll let him sleep for now and get this set up.
 
I'd definitely be asking the vet for bisolvon powder. It is a mucolytic that you sprinkle onto a piece of cucumber. It breaks up the mucus so they can cough or sneeze it out. That with the antibiotics and steam is about the best combination. You are a devoted slave and Casran is lucky to have you fighting his corner.

Well, I put too much Olbas oil in and when I put my head under it nearly burnt my eyeballs off ... so I quickly ran and changed that.

The steam didn't last very long so I think I need a bigger bowl.

How long do you keep Mallow under it for?

Pretty much until it was no longer steamy enough, id give the bowl a stir every now and again. Was about half hour, sticking my face in every now and again to check it was okay. I just sat with my hand under the blanket and scratched her chin- kept her relaxed and means i could feel if she was moving around etc x
