Poor girl had a bit of a squity bum yesterday I have her some fiberplex and a soluble pro biotic has been put in her water bottle she guzzled a fair bit of it. Just had a look in her house her poops still arnt right but much former than yesterday.

As for me surgery went well but I'm in a lot of pain the pain killers they have me are rubbish. The surgeon gave me a referal letter as a number to bring to get my wound check and dressing changed today and to make an appointment for the 9th to get the clips removed. He told me there's no appointments and " just go the drop in" could the nhs be any worse?

Sending lots of healing vibes to you both! She is a beautiful little girl x)

Hope you are feeling better after your surgery.

Just had a look at her bum no squishy pop at all as none in the cage all solid. She's had a fair bit of apple the last few days think that's what it was.

Someone's delivering readigrass for me later to try and get some weight on her.

Good poo's! Excellent! They love readigrass don't they

I hope the redigrass helps her. I am sorry you are not feeling good. Maybe you could ask for stronger pain killers?

Hugs & healing vibes to you and Cheeky. Sounds like she is well on her way to getting better. Now it's your turn!

Still in a lot of pain and not eating much. Gonna try and get a shower in a bit.

Cheekys been nomming on readigrass all night and has put a gram on. It's not much but at least it's going the right way.Lots of healthy poos in her cage today.

I can imagine you are not feeling up to food but it is important you keep your strength up. Please try and have something.

I'm so confused I've been thinking the last few days my right armpit is sore I've just looked and found this

Looks surgical doesn't it?!

That looks bad. No wonder it hurt. Do you know what it is?

As piggyfan said, important you eat even if you don't feel like it. Surgery takes a lot out of the body and healing requires more nutirients.

Maybe Cheeky needs to syringe feed you now?

Ouch! It looks so painful like you have had stitches or something but that would not make sense. I think you need to show a doctor that.

I know I said it looks like it was stitched

I've been scratching from the pain killers but I don't think it's likly on could o done that my nails are short for starters.

It's very strange given that they operated on my stomach.. :s

It is strange. Are you able to get to a doctor to check it or do you feel too weak?

I've got an appointment on we'd to have my dressings changed I'll ask then.

Yeah I've just had her out on my chest asking her to feed me but she just gave me nose kisses!

Cheeky has got a runny bum again :( she's only had a bit of cucumber today so I'm gonna keep her off it the rest of the night an see how she is in the morning :(

Oh poor baby. Is she on medication?

How did you get on at the doctor when you showed your arm?

Oh come on you need to look after yourself too. I really think you need to get that seen. You are so worried about Cheeky you are forgetting yourself. I hope your brother has been looking after you.

Looks surgical doesn't it?!

It looks like you;ve grazed/snagged your arm on something sharp like a a rose thorn/ zipper/sharp corner or something similar and it is now looking quite infected hence why it is sore. The red area moving upwards is concerning. Please get it checked tomorrow - nurse or GP.

As for Cheeky's runny bum
a) no veggies - just readigrass, hay and pellets for 5 days minimum
b) keep up with the fibreplex
c) weigh daily and syringe feed if losing weight
d) keep an eye on fluid intake to avoid dehydration (diarolyte syringe feeding may help)
e) observe strict hygiene with your piggies - you have just been in hopsital and exposed to all those nasty bugs such as Clostridium difficile and MRSA
f) if her diarrhoea gets any worse go straigh to the vet and mention you have also been in hospital yourself.

Not trying to alarm you - just being pragmatic......

Wishing you both speey recoveries

My brother has been completely useless just sitting there watching me struggle playing on his gameboy. My mother came down sat to clean the pigs out for me an again they just sat there watching me struggle eating cakes (which I can't have). I was literally on the floor crying with pain hoovering the hay up and they again just sat there. After a while she says "let me do it it hurts to watch you" I said like oh don't strain yourself mother then they left! She said shed come down Monday to see i needed anything then I get an email saying "can't come no bus fare" so I had to hobble down to the chemist myself to get more meds. Then she's emailing me saying I've bought you a desk I'll bring it we'd. So I said I don't new a desk I need a family who will give a
Dam after me having an organ removed! Surprise surprise she didn't turn up today either. So I've basically been left alone to do everything myself. I swear I will never speak to them again after this.

Oh and when she left on sat she stole a few quid I had on the side.
On Friday they helped me get the pigs veg and that in tesco and she "borrowed" money off me which I didn't get back.

That is all you need when you are unwell. That is so unfair. Shame you have to rely on them but it cannot be helped right now.

Cheers for that

Arms looking better just had a look it's dried up and scans coming away. Gonna leave a scar though.

I've been bathing myself I'm hibiscrub everyday and changeling clothes because of mrsa etc. I tested positive for it a whole ago so I got special treatment in the hospital ie a private room etc

The second mrsa test two weeks ago was negative though

Cheeky has been drinking a fair bit and I've laced the water with a soluble pro biotic and multivitamin

She had

Enrofloxacin
Madetpmoidine
Torbugesic
Atipamezole

Enrofloxacin - antibiotic
Medetomidine and torb are both injectable anaesthetics, when used together they can use lower doses of each.
Atipamizole is a reversal agent to the injectable anaesthesia.

Anything else? I dont see any pain relief or any atropine to reduce saliva secretions?

I would also be prepared for further dental work in the future..

This is a very difficult time for you - major op, sick piggies and little dependable family back-up for your day-to-day living. It's always a very worrying time for people in this situation and I;ve been there myself a couple of times over the last few years.

Please contact your GP's surgery and alert them to the fact you have no proper support/help following your operation and that you are on your own. They won;t be able to help with everything but they need to know and they might at least be able to make arrangements to change your dressing at home if it is difficult for you to travel (rather than rely on family for transport) and perhaps suggest where you can help for other things such as housework etc from voluntary organisations in your area.

As for cleaning out the piggies - I enlisted the private help of a local vet nurse on one occasion and a guinea pig boarding place on another (for a small fee). Twice Ive been incapacitated through operations and I've been amazed at the helpful response of total strangers - far more supportive than the family!

I've just been getting on with it tbh

Doing a little bit at a time and resting inbetween

I'm sure the pigs would help if they could :)

Next door doing DIY until 1am isn't helping either!

Cheekys bum seems better this morning. She's currently running around the living room weeking. She keeps going in the kitchen and chattering her teeth next to the fridge, clever girl.

She's had some readigrass, a bit of the recovery food and her dry food.

Do you think I should give her some veg now? If so how much?
