Awww, I'm so sorry for both you and Chester. You are such a good piggy-mum trying to help him. I don't know enough to offer any advice but over in frost - covered Sweden three pigs and their person are crossing all available paws for Chester...

I have some quite good news!

First Chester has made it through another night which is a good thing, right? He has drunk 30mls of Bio-Lapis from his bottle by himself too. His diahorrea has stopped, his poos are still soft and very wet but back to their normal colour at least. His eyes are no longer sunken or crusty and the discharge from his mouth has completely cleared. I am giving him 0.1mls of Baytril, 0.15mls of Calpol and wiping oral Daktarin gel around his mouth.

I stopped all of his food last night and gave him just hay and pellets. When can I introduce veggies again? Also he doesn't have his normal water, just his Bio-Lapis, should I give him another bottle of water too?

That's great!

I never give Bio Lapis in their water bottle, I always syringe it - then you know how much they've had, and some guineas (although apparently not Chester!) can be put off by anything added to their normal water.

If he's eating hay and pellets I would leave it another day or so before introducing a little veg - one type at a time, small quantity only, see what reaction you get!

Good news he's on the mend!

I think I am going to just give him normal water for a day and see how it goes. I was trying to avoid syringe feeding him today as I was in tears doing it last night, I felt as though he thought I was torturing him 8...

I am just so nervous about doing anything with him in case it sends him the other way :...:0

That's a really good idea, I will have to go through the shed and try and find another :)

I am so glad for you that Chester seems to have made it through the critical phase.

Sending him my best wishes, as others have given you already all the advice.

I'm also very happy Chester is feeling better! I read somewhere here that banana can help with runny poo? It's got lots of calories too, maybe a good idea for a little sick guy on the mend?

Wonderful to hear the wee man is feeling a bit better, I'm still sending healing vibes his way and supportive one yours.

Just an update about Chester.
Technically he is doing very well. He is still living in his carry case, on a bed of towels to keep him warm. He is just on Baytril now, 0.1mls because of his weight, although I think he has gained a little since he was very sick. He is going MAD for food ALL of the time - he spends all day squealing, it's not a pain-cry, it's a 'feed me' cry. He has his usual food and is picking at that, and picks at hay. He loves his fruit and veg, but he isn't eating vast quantities of anything. His poos are still small. I forgot a Baytril dose last night and he has green discharge around his nose today, so I'll try and get three doses of Baytril in today if I can. I also stopped the Daktarin to see what happened and there's brown around his mouth so I am sure he must have some type of fungal in his mouth? He just doesn't seem 'quite right', he has so much energy and is always rooting for food, he has bitten all of us at least once. He doesn't look ill, he just looks not quite right. His eyes look strange! Hard to put it into words, just trying to describe what I see. Could he have been left with some brain damage?
I am SOO pleased he is still here, and that he is eating and drinking, but I am baffled! mallethead

Good news he's doing a better but I understand your bafflement.

I'm continuing to send healing vibes his way.

Sorry, I can't help you. Have you pmed alcesterpigs?

Glad to hear Chester has got little more of an appetite back. His change does sound baffling :{ Hope you manage to get to the bottom of it

Glad he's hanging in there and hope you get the answers to your questions. I have no idea
