So up until now I've taken my pigs to the vet to trim their nails but I want to do it myself now, party because it's so expensive and the vets is a 30 min drive away.

Only think is I'm not sure how to hold them while I do it, plus my two are very wriggly so I'm not sure if it's a good idea to do it myself.
I've tried to do it while distracting them with veg but they didn't like me lifting their paws...

Any tips would be much appreciated

I've only cut mine twice so might not be as helpful as more experienced owners.
The first time i got my husband to hold my piggy with his back against his chest, one hand under his bum and one hand round his chest/tummy. Was a really easy position to trim his nails in but he was a bit squirmy so make sure whoever is holding the guinea pig is sitting down so he doesn't fall if he does squirm out of their hand.
The second time i had him sitting along my arm against my chest with a bit baby corn and trimmed the 2 paws on the side i could see, them switched him over and trimmed the other 2. I have a very laid back boy though so might not work with some guinea pigs.
I also found it alot easier to use baby nail clippers instead of the scissors from the pet shop.
Would your vet be willing to supervise you cutting them yourself the first time? Then she could give you tips and help.

they have a blood line which in white nails you can see or in black nails you can place a light underneath. just cut 1-2cm infront of that xx

I second using baby nail clippers. So much easier than the pet nail clippers!
