To be honest I think it would've been better to award a degree, but maintain the existing vocational arrangements insofar as that was possible, oh and the grant - but all that's in hindsight given the current situation of course.
It’s been a degree profession for 20 odd years but the ridiculous changes to funding the training is a disaster for recruitment. I started training 26 years ago on a bursary, and the funding remained that way until 2 or 3 years ago.
Anyway, I don’t want to be political, but to see memes suggesting that it’s those without degrees keeping the country afloat fails to acknowledge the hard slog that is studying for a 3 year full time degree whilst working hard, long, physical shifts, including nights at the same time.
