I have this ten year old guinea pig, Chuckles who is dying. We're expecting him to go either today or tomorrow. Because of his situation I decided it would be better for him to die peacefully at home instead of being euthanized at the vets. I feel horrible for him, and his cage mate, Boomer. But the reason for this post is actually Boomer. I had him neutered three weeks ago so that he could eventually have a female companion. While I did end up getting two female early and having them in quarantine for two weeks, I'm having trouble with figuring out new cage locations. Because of the fact that its only been three weeks since Boomer's operation and you're supposed to wait until six before house them together, I need help to get a solution because I don't want Boomer to be alone for the next few weeks without interaction. The cage I was planning on housing them in is a 2 by 6 c&c cage. Any suggestions on possible housing would help. Thank you.

I am so sorry to hear about Chuckles, 10 is an incredibly good age, what a lovely home he has had with you.
If you have room I would suggest you put the girls cage besides Boomer for interaction through the bars. Being absolutely certain no one can manage to clamber over to the otherside before Boomer is safe.

Sorry about Chuckles but if think about it, he lived for 10 years in a loving home. I certainly hope my boy Finn lives that long.

It will be fine to house Boomer on his own for a bit. I have my boy Finn in a separate cage from Lara who I adopted from a friend who didn't want her. I came highly recommend as Lara's pet parent according to my friend.

Finn and Lara live in the same room but in different cages. I know my boy Finn loves Lara so much as he always look to Lara's direction and even sits in a corner closest to Lara's cage.

Yeah. I know all that. Ive had him since I was very young, which a large part of why his death is particularly hard. Also, were scheduled to euthanize our dog whos been in our family since I was a newborn next Tuesday. I'm planning on adding onto the 2 by 6 cage temporarily so they can live side by side for awhile. I'm also worried about one of the girls health because she began to show symptoms of bowel issues. Seems like the ringer right now but I'll get through.

To update: Chuckles passed around 10 o'clock tonight. Thank you for a the support.

Hi and really sorry to hear chuckles passed. Could you secure extra grids in your c&c to make 2 2x3 cages temporarily so that boomer can love next to them for the next 3 weeks before introductions? Make sure it's really secure though as boars can be extremely determined to get to females
