COVID-19 Coronavirus

Very quiet around here but I live in a village so it’s never really noisy or busy like a city.
Still a bit eerie though

One of the staff came into my flat today because I didn't answer my phone when it rang (once) 15 minutes previously. Most of what I yelled from my bed isn't repeatable in polite company but he does that again and I'll quite happily ring the police. Wouldn't mind so much but our building has broken heating (again) so it's 22C at 4am and I couldn't get to sleep til after 7.
Phone rang at 11am. I was not a happy camper.

In New York City, there was a man who jumped to his death from top of his luxury apartment.
He had no medical history of illness so people concluded that this current lockdown was too much for him to handle. Some people have hard time dealing with such a lockdown I assumed. It gets you psychologically.
I couldn’t live in New York City because it is really crowded with too many people and spaces are really tight.

If we get to stage 3 of coronavirus here in India u can imagine there would be 1000000 deaths in our country...we don't have good medical facilities and very less hospitals as compared to the population of 1.3 billion people and we can never be prepared if the virus got to that stage there's only 1 hospital bed for every 80,000 people in our country so that's the reason everything including groceries medical stores and hospitals have shut down here to stop the people from going out but still people are gathering together to meet their friends😶😶
Sending hugs. What a terrible situation for your country. Hope you and your loved ones keep safe

I know them, they are the type that sponge off the tax payer and trash our street and house walls and drain pipes. I'm not labeling every benefit claimer. Just them. Sorry 👍

You need to think more carefully before you type then. Regardless of what you do or don't know about the people you are commenting on, their income or employment status has no bearing on whether they are following government instruction or not. This is not the first time I have had to comment on your posts for sweeping generalisations of benefit claimants. I have worked with benefit claimants for over 13 years now and the majority would rather not be on benefit and often feel like a burden to the state mostly because tabloid media shares this fantasy that benefit scroungers are very much the norm whereas the vast, vast majority it's down to circumstance and need. I'm sure there is a time and a place for conversations like this but its not on this forum.

I worry about one of my close work colleagues. He's still going into the office at the moment and I believe this is because of his mental health struggles as he lives alone and knows it will be hard on his mental health to stay at home. It's bizarre the impacts something like this has. I had no idea what day we were on earlier as everyday is just like the last

Yea ok fine. Sorry I know your right🙂👍

Feeling very upset that Sam still has to be at work, worried his workplace will be a breeding ground for covid and we will all get sick or worse 😣 but then at least we still have income coming in so that's one less thing to worry about!

Where does Sam work?

We don't have life insurance, have no savings and benefits wouldn't cover our basic outgoings, we are literally screwed if anything happens

I think it's perfectly reasonable for employees who are expected to still be at work to be 2m apart from each other....even supermarkets are following this guidance.

One of our friends phoned earlier and said she's seen a load of drones flying over, don't know where she lives exactly but I'm assuming these are for watching areas like this for people just hanging out in groups

Kids from 3 different families are playing in my Square where I live. And 1parent is watching, knowing full well this is wrong. But they are ok, they claim benefits, have all day to stockpile and no worries about work.

I met a very bemused lady last week in a supermarket. She was a single parent with 3 children, looking at empty shelves and wondering how to feed her family. She pointed out very clearly that as she was on benefits she had a weekly budget and did not have the money to buy more than one week’s food for her family each week and had been unable to fill her freezer and cupboards before the panic buying had started. So I doubt that folk on benefits are the culprits when it comes to stockpiling.

Yea that is worrying and sad.

Spent sometime working in the garden today and realised something was missing but couldn't think what it was for a while. Planes usually go past us every 2 or 3 mins to or from the airport. It's a distant rumble rather than very loud but there are hardly any planes at all, so peaceful it's lovely. The neighbours soon made up for it though, the usual pain in the necks had a row that rumbled on for over an hour, when those girls fall out they don't give up easily.

Yes, does rather remind me of the Icelandic volcano eruption years ago, was so peaceful, police helicopter is doing double time however. Yes, can sympathise with respect to neighbors, parties everywhere, I could really do without arguments at 03:00 about the parentage of child #3.

So Tesco's site went down in the middle of me trying to update Thursday's order (tomorrow? It's...Wednesday now, right? So confused) and I have never seen myself rage like that at a website before. Mix of Hulk rage and heart attack panic. My neighbour across the hall has offered to let them in when they arrive though, so that's one less hiccup.

Now, just to have it actually arrive...

I actually managed to get a slot for Wednesday from asda but when I went to pay it kept saying there was a problem with the payment. I imagine it was due to lots of people on their app. I've gotta brave going to tescos now.

Great, uk has had its biggest death count jump since the lockdown happened. Obv not working 😢

Of course it hasn't worked yet! These people that have died have already had the virus. It's not a miracle, it's not going to work in the space of 24 hours! Eileen has already said above that the NHS expects to hit the top of the curve in 10 days. That's why the lockdowns in place for 3 weeks at least
