Teenage Guinea Pig
so I came downstairs this afternoon to see momo fagged out on her fave plushy having a bit of a grouchy inhalation episode. Yesterday, perfectly fine. I went to stroke her and the excitement made the loud breathing stop. I've brought her upstairs and as she's settled down the grouching came back. She's in normal spirits, making lots of purring if I stop stroking her
Everything else if fine, no weight loss, eating fine, lovely poop! no crusts or discharges. I've rung the vets and I have an appointment for tomorrow to discuss an asthma chamber. I'm also going to ask for an xray of her head and chest to rule out occlusions, polyps or heart defects.
Ive been thinking what we've changed as well - we've had new veg boxes straight from the farm and they had green beans and chard for the first time. I washed them but raw veg is always risky. Also I have a new incense. I burn them upstairs only and the pigs are kept in a different part of the house with plenty of fresh air, I'm very careful about that. but the perfume might carry on my hair etc. We also use 3 types of hay. She's had all three regularly over 3 months so its weird its only happening now!
Does anyone have any experience with asthmatic pigs? or do the symptoms sound like something else?
thanks guys,
Maya x
