There was only two cable ties, if you chew the bottom one off - I realise this after - then it makes a gap you can push. It is also possible that one of the bunnies did this.

It was a pure accident, and I had to pull the entier of my garage out to get them from behind the hutches. I feel like you are insinuating I did this on purpose, sorry if I am mistaken.

I'm not accusing at all, however two cable ties just does not seem enough to me ! and as I said earlier, due to their durability,Stanley knives have to be used to release them in the indusrtial industry. rolleyes
 
I know our cable ties come apart really easily with the piggies' nail clippers which may resemble teeth a bit more.

Is a horrible situation. All I can say is at least Lexy has experience of dealing with a pregnancy (one of her first pigs came to her pregnant).
 
Mistakes happen and as long as you learn from them, that's what counts. Fingers crossed the girlies aren't pregnant but if they are, I'm sure you'll do your best for them.
 
I know my male rabbit jumped over to my female once and I was in such shock. But she was not preggy thank god. The vets said they cant tell if they are preggy I had to wait 6 weeks to find out. In the end I was kinda hoping she was but then there is the situation of rehoming them all and getting to attached which I do well. Lets hope and pray they are not preggy. I am sure you have learnt by your mistake like I did.
 
I can see how they could bite though them I can cut through mine and I am sure Hamsters could bite though them so why not a guniea pig. As someone has said mistakes happen I am sure that reading past posts by lexy that she will do her best by her piggies if they are pregnant. And I am not saying anyone is saying she did do it on purpose but if she did want babys I am sure she would just say I have decided I am going to have baby piggies I think that making up a story would not make any sense at all it's not like Lexy has to justify what she dose to us lol.
 
I doubt they'll be pregs.
It all depends how long they were together for, if it was for a few mins/ a couple of hours then its doubt full
A whole day or whole night then the chances are higher.

But even so, the females would need to be in season for them to get pregs, but the fact that both the females and the males tried to get out at the same time is an indication that they were, they wouldn't just chew away non stop for no reason.
And you probally won't end up with 8.. if their both pregs you could have 12 babies on your hands.. i use to breed my guinea pigs and both my females had 6 babies each, and the next time one had 4 and the other had 6 again.

You sure they havn't just been chewing away for a while and you havn't noticed?
 
hope it all goes well.. My bunny jumped a wall over 4ft (my vet told me that 4ft would be fine grr) to get to my female.

A friend of mine had a piggie that got into her females after doing a similar thing (chewed the wood on the bottom of run then pushed metal up) he ended up with a wound along his back (have * checked him?) I do not know if c&c grids are smooth or rough x
 
I've got a male piggy that'll do anything to escape :{ he's chewed through cable ties, climbed/jumped over grids.
He was in a indoor run once and I went to answer the phone (in the same room) and when I sat back down he'd gone, I found him laid next to the dog both of them blissfully happy.
Sometimes I guess you just get the odd mischievious animal, I have a dog who'll escape at any opportunity and a dog that won't leave your side.
I'm sure if they are having babies then you'll do the best job possible :).
 
what?! really? c'mon guys its not like she's deliberatly bred them for her own gain. mini pigs are cute and if she can cope she can cope I'm putting my name down for a young'un lesson learnt just help her and advise her on how to look after the sow(s) instead of critisising her for what was a mistake
 
I'm sure they could chew through cable ties, I've heard of rabbits doing it loads and my puppy chews through them too rolleyes Piggy teeth are sharp . . .

Accidents happen, how were you to know they'd get out, 2 cable ties seems like plenty til something happens like this. I hope if they are pregnant that the pregnancies go smoothly, what age are the girls? But I'd say there's a good chance they aren't pregnant.


I've had my boys break through wire to get to girls, and jump over foot high wire (same height as C&C nearly) and I saw my sow Libby jump over it too, but I quickly picked her up and put her back, then made the wire taller :)) These things can happen even if you think you've done everything to keep them safe.

Feel people should not be having a go at Lexi about this unfortunate incident - piggies are piggies and if they are pregnant, will be cared for properly throughout. I wouldn't hesitate to trust her with any animal, like me, she would go without for her pets.
Yes, there is an over population of piggies but this was an accident not 'oh, I'll let the boars get with the sows'.
Is your hair still pink btw ?
 
Cable ties can wear out eventually. I have had several break, although mine are under more stress, because they are all 'hinges' (my grids are all connected into one long flexible 'fence', which I fold up when I want to clean the pigs area). Also, any plastic eventually becomes brittle if exposed to sunlight.
 
Lilly is just over a year old but she already had a litter two of which are

Karmina and sasha. Who are coming up for a year now..

They're probably not pregnant, but....like I said, it's possible.

And, when my lilly was pregnant she had three babies. xx

They should hopefully be fine anyway :) Let us know in a few weeks if they start getting fat. At least if they are pregnant, you get the wonderful experience of raising the babies and I'm sure you'd find great homes for any, if you didn't want to keep them :P
