Are there any instances when the antibiotic Depocillin can be given to a guinea pig either orally or by injection x

Would imagine only as a last resort/ after antibiotic sensitivity testing - Would imagine there would be a safer antibiotic. Should only be given via intramuscular injection.

Penicllin based injections are usually given subcutaneously either as it is specifically required for a certain strain of bacteria or as a last resort, but shouldnt be given orally as far as i am aware.

Cant be specific for the one u mention.. Sorry @Stewybus x

I've used 'penicillin' on my Fred many years ago, can't remember the name of the medicine it was derived from penicillin - that much I am certain of.

The vet at the time advised me it could not be given orally as it is toxic. Fred had injections, and recovered well.

Ive checked the dangerous mediction list on guinea lynx and it suggests any Penicillin bsed drug any route is not safe to give to cavies,as highly toxic .:)
