I bathe my shorthair piggies only about every 6 months unless there is a medical reason or they are exceptionally dirty. Other members bathe more often.
There's often no need to bathe short haired piggies. If their fur ever starts to smell or feels greasy to the touch, like if you touch them and your hand feels dirty afterwards, then you could bathe them. But try not to do it any more than every 6 weeks (I'm a dog groomer and that's what we recommend for dogs anyway). Some people wash them regularly like that, some people might only do it once or twice a year.
I've found with mine if they are bathed every 4-6 months it stops fungaly skin problems. My first two piggys suffered from skin probs and bathing them every few months really did seem to help and kept them lovely and shiney.
