Do You Ever Wonder If Your Standards Are Too High?

My colleagues were asking if I got another Piggie for Rory and said no, I would need to get an older girl from a rescue. The look one give me like 'guinea pigs in a rescue?' He was being right snide.
He doesn't seem to understand every animal can be rescued, I never got a chance to voice that... But he's just a dimler, in the past he said he would put my animals to sleep for me (peeved) and how much I spent on vet bills he's a arrogant

He even said his girlfriend got a hamster to keep her company while on maternity leave and he told her if she didn't get rid he would throw it off the balcony!
Nothing wrong with high standard IMHO
Any man who threatened any animal, child or other vulnerable person would be straight out of the door with a flea in his ear, pronto.
Sorry for the rant makes me see red !!

He's an ass and cares for no one but himself... Don't ever know what happened to the hamster...

I think that any true animal lover will welcome comments from other animals lovers because at the end of the day we are all always learning and trying to provide the best care possible for their pets. It definitely sounds like your friend knows they are in the wrong and has got extremely defensive about it instead of saying 'ok, how do I improve'. Ignorance is no excuse for poor care but there are two types of poor care, ignorance and neglect. I would say I was quite ignorance of piggy care when I first got mine, but I asked questions and I did research so that I could care for them properly. NEVER feel guilty about making sure animals are cared for properly @lil

My piggies have their own room in large enclosures and I have been told by a couple of people they should be in a shed.I have nothing against outside piggies but I want mine in.My rats also raise eyebrows as they have large cages and share my meals.Have had a crap sseven months with very little money and have health problems that cause me pain. Many people have said I should get rid of all of them but they have kept me going and made me and my children laugh.Sometimes they are the only thing that keep me out of bed during the day and the only thing that motivates me to go Into town (for supplies I can't get local) .Not many people understand me but I don't give a dam

Thank you everyone, so re-assuring. I do feel better, I've re-read your comments and feel the warm blanket of the forum around my shoulders (ignoring the fact it blooming' hot), and I know it's absolutely the right thing. My OH knows my piggies are very important to me too.
You guys are the best.
