Dot, gurgling tummy.

I have noticed over the last few days, Dots tummy has been gurgling, she a bit less active, but still keen on her hay and pellets.

I have a feeling shes steeling too much of Bernies veg and its caused an upset. She isnt bloated to look at or touch. I am giving pro c now and am going to stop any leafy greens or cucumber. Any ideas? If her hay eating stops its a vet trip straight away.

She has also been laying in positions that look like she keeps trying to get comfy but cant. I'm not looking for a diagnosis, only some tips before i do book a vet appointment

It may take a careful hands-on examination by an experienced vet or if necessary an x-ray or scan to work out what is exactly is going on, as internal problems can impact on the gut so the cause may not necessarily lie in the digestive system.

She has gone like it before and then snapped out of it later on, it was when her Intertestial cystitis first came about. I'm hoping its just that flared up again. It does every so often. Thanks il call the vets asap.

Any typical behaviours you have noticed with i.c ?
 
I agree with seeing Kim @SkyPipDotBernie. She's done an amazing job with my Jon Snow. He has had a very rumbly tum for years. He can't eat certain veg. We had to test each one to find out which was the culprit. He has alot of other issues but the removal of the "bad" veg has really helped him

Thanks il call up tomorrow and get her in if they have a slot for when i can. Hope I'm working local tomorrow
 
She’s like my Ted, he is always stealing Bill’s portion of vegetables x If you are worried about her behaviour then I’d pop her to your wonderful vets!
Ted had his dental last week with Simon! We need to kidnap him x
 
@SkyPipDotBernie Try keeping a veg diary to see if you can work out what it is that causes it.

I know that too much veg can contribute to it too. So if she's a bit of a hog then she may not be helping herself.
 
Coriander is the newest veg and parsnip, have a feeling it could be one of these, parnsip being a root veg.

Every problem in Dot I'm seeing now, happened at one of her worst times back in june overmy wedding day, when furryfriends teas offered looked after her. Because i obv couldnt .And it was Intertestial cystitis. So i may be worrying over nothing. She still has blood in urine sometimes, since last june.

I have also done a weight check every week and shes on 960g which is her normal lowest weight

Dots in vets for 6.10 on friday . Hopefuly i can make it, alrhough shes doing fine i want to be sure
 
Hope Dot is ok! Keep an eye on the coriander stealing, that's what started Puggle's bloaty episodes, though she's ok with coriander now as long as its like 1 or 2 pieces a week. I still always have ranitidine on hand just in case...

Shes really really bad at stealing Bernies share, she even checks his mouth after veg time to see if he has beem given any more, she even checks his mouth if she hears a bag russle. I am thinking about stopping all leafy foods for a few days for Dot.

She was fine this morning, but keeps dragging her bum a bit and hunching to poo, then you hear the crackling bum hole noises, she doesnt yelp and just carries on afterwards, its as if she cant get poo out properly, yet when i check her bed, theres a pile of healthy poos there

thankyou ☺ I'm a bit scared about stones, i had an old boar that suffered massively because of stones, and died whilst i was at work.Dot has been through these same symptoms before and was xrayed , and had no stones show up or sludge. It was diagnosed as intertestial cystitis in the end, she had a lump in her bladder wall that simon said he wont be able to operate on, without a huge risk of losing her. She went back after some treatment, mostly just seeing how she goes, and was hands on examined, simon said the lump had gone down alot

When they both first started (my late Emma had it too) they both just had blood in their urine and then after all the tests were carried out and all the nasties were ruled out and IC was dignoses, they have squeaky wees but not all the time. Ellen has been on septrin for 6 weeks and baytril for 2 weeks as she had a uti and there were no squeaky weesin all that time but now she’s off the antibiotics (she’s just presenting with a trace of blood in her urine and no infection) she’s having the odd squeaky wee again. But when she’s having a proper flare, she tends to become picky with her pellets and loses a little weight. But I’ve been lucky that they’ve both had it on the mild side

So no hunching whilst pooing or straining with crackling bum hole noises? Sorry sounds horrid, but its what happens

That's a sign of digestive issues, and is something that happens with my job. You need to work out which food is making it worse and remove it. Also, if you're feeding a lot of veg then you need to reduce the portion size. I know it's awful and I hate doing it but it really makes my Jon worse if he eats too much.

Gut med's can help. Cisapride is a medication that Jon has every day, but there's also Emeprid and Zantac.

As you're not booked into the vet for a few days I would definitely recommend getting some Fibreplex and starting her on it asap. You can get it online and I think Pets at Home sells it. Jon absolutely hates it but it's very effective with digestive issues. It's something I've used many times on suggestion by the vet when I've had a pig with tummy issues. It won't solve it but it really came make them more comfortable.

Will pro c help? And some poop soup from Bernie? Ive never seen fiberplex in pets at home. Dots anus opening in also a little tiny bit sort of mucusey, but as i said she is still pooing good.

Her food portion size is ok, its her stealing Bernies food thats the problem. Its hard to control her

You could try giving Bernie veg separately from Dot. If Dot has a dodgy tum maybe best to keep her off veg for a few days?

Vit c though? I have pro c but thats it oh and nuggets but Bernie hogs those lol
 
I'm not assuming this is a digestive issue directly but i will treat it as one without doing any harm as i wait for the vet

I would have thought that Pro C would be OK until Friday. A pinch in a bit of water and syringe fed. See if you can separate Dot off for her portion of nuggets while Bernie is having his veg.
