Dottie’s breathing and skin issues

Sending you my very best wishes at what I know is a very hard time. You did the right thing for Dottie.

I'm very sorry. But I'm glad for Dottie that she was able to go quickly, having fallen asleep in your arms after first sedation. You chose the right time to let her go.

Sweet Dottie, enjoy your time with your friends over at 🌈 where you'll be young forever.

I am so very sorry that you have had to say goodbye to Dottie.
You gave her the best possible piggy life and care.
Be gentle with yourself and take time to grieve.
Holding you in my heart ♥️

Sending hugs to you. I know how hard this decision has been.

Popcorn high over the bridge gorgeous Dottie. ❤️

I'm so sorry to read this. You've done everything you could for Dottie and given her a wonderful life. I understand a little of how you must be feeling as I have just lost Toffee, and like you this will be the end of my guinea pig journey.

Take good care of yourself as you grieve ❤️

HUGE HUGS

I am so very sorry.

It was the right time and you have done the right thing to save her any unnecessary further struggles and suffering as it was very much down to a matter of hours and no longer even days. You have put Dottie's quality of life before your own desires and you decision was made based on your love for her so she could make her journey in less distress and not feeling so unwell, carried by the wings of your love and not alone, passing away during the night.

But it is totally normal to question yourself at this stage. We all do it because that is our own human species wiring.

Please be sad but do not feel bad about it. Be aware that Dottie's passing is also the end of an era, which is inevitably going to bring up lots memories and buried emotions because you won't just grieve for her but for all your piggies all over as well.

Give yourself the time and space for that as you are saying goodbye not just to one clearly much loved piggy but also to a whole part of your life that will never come back again in this form but that has shaped you as a person nevertheless. You will be fully open for the next chapter - for which I wish you all the best - only once you have done that.

We are still here as a community of not only piggy owners but also several ex-owners and we are going to be here for you if you hit a snag or have questions during your grieving journey, which can take unexpected turns.

And thank you for your thanks.

Thanks Wiebke, really appreciate this, and all of your guidance with Dottie since she first arrived with us. (I told her that she had a lot of piggy experts and friends in her corner!) Tbh all four of our piggies have been a massive learning curve and roller coaster but she was a very sweet girl and being a solo piggy at the end, with a busy medication and health monitoring regime, it meant we gave her lots of attention. She’s also spent a lot of the summer in the same room as me due to the temperatures so I’ll miss hearing her mooching around and softly chewing on her hay or quietly looking for me to pass her a snack at all hours. She was a big hearted girl both literally and figuratively. I’m glad Winnie picked her when she went dating after her bereavement.

Thank you so much. I was relieved how peaceful the end seemed to be.

Be kind with yourself as you adjust to the silence and emptiness in your room and relish your memories. Even when you know that the end is coming, you can never fully brace for it. I am glad that Dottie's last journey was a peaceful one, carried by the wings of your love, so she can be reunited with your others at the Bridge.

You have given all your piggies all the love and care they could wish for, not just Dottie. Keep on finding something or somebody you can can continue to give that love to - love needs to flow in order to flourish and you are a person who loves deeply and needs to have an outlet for it, whether it is person, animal or interest.

But I am glad that we have been able to be here for you as a community and continue to be here for you.
