I've bought this cage off Facebook for my two guineas and I'm really not sure about it. It's the Little Friends one. Has anyone got one of these and finds it Ok? I've got visions of one of my babies falling down the hole! The ramp doesn't look securely attached to me either. Not sure if just me worrying or if genuine cause for concern.

Any thoughts please?

It does look a little small. Two stories doesnt count as more floor space, as its just the same as moving your guinea pig from one cage to another. The ramps could be made safe by attaching cardboard tunnels to the ramp so that they cant fall

If it's the one I found on Google then it's only 100cm which is below the minimum size for 2 piggies unfortunately

Sorry to say but that cage looks way under the cage measurement requirements for guinea pigs. A MidWest cage is a perfect sized cage for two guinea pigs and can be bought off of Amazon or Chewy.com. I have one for my Alfie and Archie and they love it. I got mine off of Amazon for $53. Although it was expensive because it was the ‘plus’ version, the plus comes with a cage lid and a little hop over ramp. The regular version is about $23 and does not come with a ramp and lid. If you have dogs or cats I would reccomend the plus version. Here is a pic of my midwest plus cage (i didnt have lid on because i wanted a good picture) keep in mind this was taken before i got my second piggie Archie

I'll stick to my 120cm. I've put it back on Facebook. Thought might be good idea at the time but not happy with it. Maybe someone with a single guinea can make use of it

The midwest is 120cm x 60cm . If i am correct, this doesnt meet the minimum space requirement for two boars. Sorry I'm not being all funny. I just wanted to point this out 👍x

Boar, sow
Sow sow, is fine in 120 x 60

Have you ever thought about using the two story as a travel cage? Like for vet visits or traveling places.

It's too big for that unfortunately. If it doesn't sell then I'll look into rescuing a single guinea who can't live with anyone. He/she will still have interaction with my others though (boys in one room.and girls in the other). Would anyone recommend for a single guinea?

Ah yes! I am aware of that. :mal: Meant to put two guinea pig sows and not just guinea pigs. While as my boys love their midwest alone i will be upgrading it soon, adding on another midwest to the one i already have. As i am aware that boars need more space than sows.

I hope allydavies has sows as i didnt mean to give wrong advice 😳

Sorry but that cage is to small for even one guinea pig (not that they should live alone). No guinea pig is ‘unbondable’ they just need to find the right match 🙂. Also sorry about giving inadequate advice in my last reply as one midwest is to small for two boars but perfect for two sows. I currently have one midwest for my boars but will be upgrading soon. By the way did you mean the cage will be next to your other guinea cages or they will have playtime every now and then?

Dont worry about it👍 i just thought id say incase you had made a mistake😁. Its not cruel or anything its just that boars can fall out with lack of space

Two Midwests will be awesome together. I have my pigs in a 120cm. I have a spare 120 i could attach

Its fine, good thing it isnt cruel as i dont have the money really to get another midwest or add on too soon. I was also putting into thought about getting multiple playpens and connecting those to my midwest.

I'm sure you will come up with something. Money gets in the way with my plans aswell. Most has gone on vet bills. My sow has cost me around £300 in the last month

I don’t think a rescue is likely to adopt out single piggies, unless they’re going to be bonded with another at home. And the minimum for one is still 120cm. Try selling it, though I’m not sure what animal can be kept in it.

PS is there a way you could put the top level next to the base and have one long cage?....

Maybe rats if you put mesh round the outside of the cage to stop them escaping and put some ledges in for climbing.

Unfortunately the minimum cage size for one piggy is still 120cm though it is highly recommended not to have a lone pig even if it can see/hear other piggies.

I dont think there is such thing as a guinea pig that cant live with another for any reason that i can think of. You do get fussy ones that take ages to find a friend they will get on with
