Eddie doesn't quite seem himself

Hi again, another update:
Last night when I was cleaning the cage I noticed some slightly smaller poos and I thought I was just being paranoid but it's the same this morning. They're not tiny but smaller enough for me to notice.
I weighed him this morning to check his weight hasn't gone down and it's fine. It's 1032g today (was 1020g yesterday) so that's the heaviest he's been since the problems started.
His behaviour is the same, he still just as interested in hay- in fact he spent most of the morning with his face in the hay pile- and yet his poos are smaller.

I'll keep a close eye on him and monitor for changes in behaviour. Is there anything else I should do or is monitoring enough for now? I'm trying not to worry but it's hard :(
 
Oh Eddie, you do like to worry your slave. Knowing that you've been doing well keeping your weight up, you thought you'd worry her by producing small poos. Are you just doing it for the attention, or is it to get extra treats?

Try not to worry too much if his weight’s stable and you think he’s acting ok. I’d stick to weighing him daily etc if you’re still worried for now. Bless you, he’s definitely not wanting mummy to have a rest atm!
I’ve had piggies for a few weeks after an anaesthetic have ‘up and down’ poos (but normally oldies in my case of course that like to stress me!) for a while. My Lolo’s having them atm to worry me while waiting for her op too! 🤦‍♀️
Try not to worry, just keep a close eye on him and weight and nashers like you have been, big hugs from us lot:hug:xx
 
Thanks @alpacasqueak and @Posyrose it does feel like he's trying to worry me. Everytime I think he's ok again something new pops up :doh: He had up and down poos after he came home from the vets which was to be expected after anesthetic, gut stasis and him being on antibiotics but it's been 2 weeks since the antibiotics were stopped and at least 3 since his gut stasis and anesthetic. How long did your lot have up and down poos for after anesthetic alpacasqueak?

Tbh @Eddie & Elvis its all depended on the pig like always. Rupert’s emergency bladder surgery caused lots of poppy problems for weeks while he healed, on new meds and cystease too though etc, same with Jess and her eye removal, much longer to get back to normal Jess, body and mind! Both older piglets though (5, then nearly 7), with Jasper’s neutering (he was around 2 and a half) you wouldn’t have even guessed he’d had it apart from a few sloppy plops the next day.
It totally depends on your boy and what’s normal for him, if you’re worrying then keep an eye or get him into vets really. How are his teeth looking now, is he still eating well (hay etc)? With his weight not going down that’s brilliant of course with these worrying piglets 🤦‍♀️Xx

Behaviour wise he seems completely normal still enthusiastic about hay (as you can see from the picture :)) ), veg and pellets. He's happily pootling about as normal. If it wasn't for these poos I'd say there was nothing wrong at all.
I haven't looked inside his mouth as he's not a fan of being picked up at all. He wriggles and panics and tries to jump out my arms unless he's held very still so check ups are as swift as possible. I don't think I'd know if anything was wrong anyway as the problems were right at the very back of his molars. He's about 2 and a half years old.

Good he’s acting like normal Eddie then!
With teeth it’s impossible for you to check them all yourself, vets need to get in the teeny mouth with their instruments to see the back ones properly, just mean for you to check his incisors (front teeth). They can be a sign of teeth problems in the back (with molars etc), wonky front ones etc can mean piggies aren’t chewing properly.
If you can get someone to help to hold him while you have a check of those that’d be good to stop you worrying! You just need to lift his lips up to check they’re all level, not one off in a different direction or much bigger than the rest etc. x
 
Oh right! That makes more sense 😂 While at the vets they noticed he had wonky incisors before they found the spur so that's a good indicator of if the problems returning. I'll get someone to hold him and see if I can have a look and update you when I have :)
 
Update (I forgot to last night :doh: )

I gave Eddie a check over last night. His incisors are lovely and straight and his back feet a still a little red but don't look sore or flaky at all. His weight is still stable too. He was 1034g when I weighed him earlier.

But he's still got smaller poos! :( Is it possible he had a dip in his weight in the 2 days between weighing earlier this week? And because of the lag between input and output I'm only seeing these smaller poos now? (I went from wieghing daily to every 2-3 days as everything seemed fine)
 
Poo output is 1-2 days behind so reflects how he was eating at that time. Hopefully he’s upping his intake so the poos will get bigger as well.

So glad to hear that he is continuing to do well! My boys are still sending lots of love :hug:
 
There's nothing much to update on at the moment. Eddie's weight is still stable (1039g today), his poos are still small but not getting smaller and his feet are still a little red but not getting more so. I'm hesitant to put anything on his feet myself in case I make it worse. I'm taking him back to the vets for his check up on the 17th is it ok to leave them be until then?
