Is there any treatments i can do, the vet is not an option right now ): i dont know what to do and shes passing

Olive is experiencing Septicemia. She is very weak, can't move. She is not eating, shes isolated herself to a corner and now is just breathing weird. I have no access to a vet and I'm crying my head off right now... could this transfer to her cage mate? He's freaking out on the other side but I'm scared he'll get this too. I don't know what to do, I feel absolutely helpless..

@Wiebke

I've tagged a member with more experience as honestly I don't know if it is transferable. Has the piggy seen a vet and septicima been confirmed?

I'm so sorry! Unfortunately, she does sound poorly. If she gets through the night will you be able to find a vet tomorrow? Guinea pigs are unlikely to fight off an infection on their own and will likely need antibiotics and some supportive care. Does she have other infectious-type symptoms? Runny nose, watery eyes, wheezing, etc? Without a vet assessment (and perhaps some lab tests) there is no way to know whether the underlying illness is transmissible or not and whether he may catch it or not. You will have to watch your other piggie closely and keep your fingers crossed. Wishing you and your piggie all the best- to give her the best chance, please try to get her to a vet as soon as it's possible.

I have merged your two threads. Please bear in mind that whilst we have members across the globe we are a UK based forum and your post was made at 1:24am our time when the majority of our members were sound asleep.

Please get to a vet asap she will need antibiotics in the very least to combat infection

Hi!

Septicemia is only contagious through direct blood contact. It is blood poisoning by bacteria or their toxins and constitutes as a life or death emergency. Without an antibiotic given in time it will be fatal. :(
Seeing a vet as quickly as possible is unfortunately a must.

Can I ask please ask what has happened to give her an infected wound?

thanks for everyone's concern! so Olive was experiencing loss of balance, wheezing, hard breathing, slowness, staring at corners, not eating or drinking water, and hiding in her little house. I believe the reason why she got this is because she was pregnant, it was an accidental pregnancy and I had no clue. I did start to notice how big she was getting all of a sudden, so I did start to suspect she was pregnant and I made sure to give her more food, and a healthy diet. Unfortunately, yesterday at about 4 am my time, she gave birth and they didn't make it. They were all still in their bags when I took a look and dead. at first, I thought olive was experiencing a depressing stage so I just stayed with her and loved her but then I when I saw these weird things she was doing ( loss of balance, wheezing, hard breathing, slowness...etc) I googled Septicemia and noticed these were all signs of it. I was not able to reach a vet because I live in the middle of nowhere and I also didn't have a car at the moment. I tried my best to comfort her though I knew she was passing. Her cagemate was very sad and squeaking. Olive did not make it, she passed away as soon as I sent my last thread... If anyone could let me know if my other guinea pig is safe, that'll be very much appreciated. I certainly am going to take him to a vet for a check-up and to make sure he is not sick as soon as I get my car back. I did clean up the cage, for now. Thank you for all your responds.

I am very sorry. Without a post mortem you will never be sure what has been the reason of her death, but it is very likely likely connected to her pregnancy and potentially the death of her babies. Unfortunately at her age most litters don't make it and many mothers die around or during birth, too. It is the equivalent of giving birth in your fifties or sixties - but to babies which are multiple the size of human babies and much more developed when born in comparison. How long have you had her and has the impregnation happened at your place? :(

Please make sure that the companion is OK in herself. Is there is a chance that she could be pregnant, too? How old is she? If yes, please open a support thread in our pregnancy section and make sure that any sows of yours live on a different level/in a different room than your boys and can never get to each other physically or that any piggies are safe from smaller siblings of yours.
