Hi hi!
(TL;DR at the end)

I’m trying to figure out a way for my piggy girls to have fun together with me.

The types of enriching activities I provide them are:
- Outside time (unsupervised, 100% piggy-proofed)
- Foraging in snuffle mats
- Paper bags filled with hay and forage (they LOVE this btw)
- Treat balls
- Cardboard rolls

None of these things need my involvement beyond just providing it. I sprinkle the forage and then my part is done (I often sit with them while they forage tho), and I’d love for my girls to have activities they do with me that they actually find fun.

TL;DR:
Please share any ideas for activities to do together with your guinea pigs, ones that require you to be involved beyond just initially providing the enrichment!

Thanks! Here’s a pic of Fen mid chewing.IMG_1479.webp

If they enjoy healthy treats, like cucumber for instance, you can teach guinea pigs just about anything. The Squeak Dreams YouTube channel did a video on how smart are my guinea pigs and included footage of a guinea pig who completed certification for agility normally achieved by dogs! Simpler tricks are well within their ability, such as sitting up to beg and doing spins. Some guinea pigs like having their fur brushed. My piggies have progressed from not allowing me to pay them to adoring being stroked, so there is quite a lot of scope. They can also do little puzzles and use guinea pig Kongs ❤️

I’ve actually taught them how to spin! I’ve been quite weary of teaching them too many tricks since I worry about overfeeding. I usually use bell peppers but they do love cucumber, perhaps it’s a better alternative. I’ll definitely check out the channel, thank you!
