I am very sad that Esme has made her way to the Rainbow Bridge in the very early hours on Friday morning after all her friends had repeatedly assured her of their love and support as she deteriorated quickly since Wednesday.
Esme came here at the start of 2024 as the last surviving of @Claire W 's piggies after regularly spending her summer and some other holidays here, so she knew the Tribe. I'd long offered Claire to give a home to her last piggy. Because I'd known her as Esme on her various stays before, she kept her name.
Anyway, over time Esme has lived with quite a few of my Tribe piggies as I am working my numbers down, but mostly as Beti's devoted sidekick, who she was closest to in age and who looked similar to her old bestie Ella.
Despite that, it took her initially a little while to get her bearings and to settle into a new group since she very much depended on the guidance of a more dominant piggy and was feeling very insecure but that settled quickly once she found her place and Beti to take her under her wing.

Beti and Esme joined Macsen when he returned here from @Qualcast&Flymo last summer after he'd lost his beloved Manon very unexpectedly. They made a harmonious and happy trio before they were recently joined by newly widowed Llinos.

Esme was a rather quirky pigsonality who loved the subterranean life, burrowed under blanket or mat and erupting amongst much wheeking when all the others had already started tucking into their dinners. She was quite vocal and liked her drama, especially when being back to living with husboars.

Snoozing with Beti

Esme was just a few weeks short of her 6th birthday and she is missed by her friends Beti, Macsen and Llinos. She's spent the last 2 1/2 years here with me.
This is my last picture of her enjoying some fresh grass with Beti, Macsen and Llinos

I have buried her with a bouquet of scented rose and honeysuckle with my last sprig of forget-me-not as a stand in for Claire's love and thoughts accompanying Esme as well.

PS: Please wait with posting replies until Claire has had time to pay tribute to Esme's years with her in the next post down.
