Hi Willow is no longer on AB she has been off for 4 days now but was on baytril for 2 weeks. I am based in the west midlands.

Is there any way you could get Willow over to Northampton to see Simon Maddock? He is on holiday this coming week but back a week tomorrow. I really think it would be worth getting him to take a look, and he can check teeth and carry out any dental work without the need for GA.

Unfortunately it would be very difficult. I don't drive and no one in the family drives that I am in contact with anyway. I don't even have close friends that drive. The vet I take her to is one of convenience because it is within walking distance from my home otherwise I would have probably have tried a guinea pig savvy vet further afield from the beginning. Just makes things complicated without a car.

Could you travel by train? Northampton is on the train line from Birmingham.

I would rather not it will not only take ages than a car so more ordeal for Willow as she gets stressed enough me taking her a short distance but money is very tight. I used my savings up for her open. Currently treatment is free for post op care where I am. It would be a 30 min bus ride to my train station how many trains from Rugby to there than another taxi or bus to vet there and back. It is too much stress for her and I am struggling now with money with vet Bill on top. Ideally a car is best but obviously that is an issue. The vets I'm at should make more if an effort. I am seriously frustrated. I asked them last week if they checked her teeth during op. No they said. Can u look now I ask? She does half-heartedly now fair enough Willow wasn't being willing at all but what she could see she couldn't see anything obvious but that don't mean anything. She then Saud if any dental issues nothing much can be done with her mouth so small but they could at least file if need it though so that a load if crap. So Will is going downhill. Since her diarrhoea she picked up slightly not a lot and not for long. Hasn't really touched veg/fruit since but was eating so dry food but she was weighed last week at vet and list so much weight down to 660g she was in the 800g region pre-op (always been small pig never over 900g) so I started hand-feeding. I work so can only cram in 4 feeds Bern doing this since Thursday. She was helping herself out by eating in between feeds some dry food although no interest in veg/fruit but last 2 days she not even eating herself so it is all down to me. I can't get her weight past 725g now so she gained a bit not much. She is a willing pig with hand feeding. At moment dry pellets mashed. I am waiting on critical care to be delivered. She has between 20-40 mls per sitting. Usually around 30. She feels quite fat after a feed. But she looks miserable, Fed up and had enough like she can't care no more. If I wasn't feeding her she would be gone now. She will allow me to feed her yet won't make no effort to eat herself between feeds now since 2 days ago. She back at vet for a weigh check now next week but they seem to think probably no point since she on a timer anyway plus with a tumour of some sort in her stomach they felt during up although I can't feel it. I think she is depressed. She has been through so much. On her own too since losing her mum and sister she probably giving up. I'm in despair. I am asking them again to check her teeth because it could be a simple file down. But I feel trapped because money is an issue now and I feel I'm failing her because of it.

How sad, as I feel with the correct treatment your piggy could still do well. Is there no way you can look at earning some extra money? I have delivered phone books, leaflets etc to raise funds for vet bills. I really think you are going to have to look at quality of life, if you are unable to provide the veterinary treatment your guinea pig needs.
