I'm just curious - what is the feeding schedule for your piggies? If you don't have one, what do you feed your piggies usually?

Hello,

My Finn and Lara get veggies three times a day. Romaine lettuce is something they get everyday for breakfast and dinner along with some herbs like basil, coriander or cilantro, parsley, dendelion, and etc. They sometimes get baby spring veggies in place of romaine lettuce.
Lunch usually consist of Oxbow pellets and one or two more veggies like carrots, or fruits.

While they get their three meals a day, they get their Oxbow hay along with their meals. I do replenish their Oxbow hay a couple more times after their three meals. Before I go to bed, they get the most amount of Oxbow hay to last them throughout the night.

Mine get 2 dandelion leaves each first thing in the Spring/Summer then some pellets, endless hay throughout the day, then a veg dinner in the evening. If it's the end of the week I haven't been shopping and am running short of veg :yikes: (I know bad slave! Doesn't happen very often) they get a bowl of forage which they complain bitterly about (where's our veg Hooman?!?). They get forage every other day along with their pellet breakfast in the winter as they are outside Piggies and I think it helps to bulk them up a bit to help with the cold. :)

Mine get fed twice a day most days, pellets and cucumber for breakfast then add extra hay 20 minutes later when we take the food bowls out, and red pepper and some sort of leafy veg plus a few pellets for dinner, again removing the bowls when they've finished and adding plenty fresh hay. I only ever feed the amount of veg and pellets they will eat in one sitting, then take the food bowls away and its hay for the next 10 or 12 hours!
On cage clean days (wednesday and saturday) instead of breakfast in a bowl they get scatterfed veggies and hay in the playpen, and they dont get any pellets. And on weekends they usually get different veg for dinner, like beansprouts and grated sweet potato!

My Alfie gets his hay rack filled in the mornings around 7 ish with Oxbow Western Timothy Hay or Oxbow Hay Blends Western Timithy and Orchard Grass. In the mornings around 7 he also gets one spoonfull of Oxbow Essentials Adult Guinea Pig Food. In the afternoons, around 4 ish he gets his one cup of veggies that usually consists of romaine lettuce, sometimes baby carrots and kale, he also gets his hay rack refilled in the afternoons at 4. In the evenings around 8 or 9 he gets his hay rack refilled.
Please be aware i am getting Alfie a companion next month

I have the same exact feeding schedule. Except, I give baby carrots once a week. I give Romaine lettuce mixed with Spring Mix in the morning, then green leaf lettuce in the afternoon. I also blend in Oxbow Western Timothy Hay with Orchard Grass. :)

I am now starting to feed baby carrots only twice a week because of the high sugar and calcium.

Alfie is recovering from a tummy upset because i didnt know carrots should only be fed twice a week and not everyday.

It's ok, there are a lot of things I didn't know before I came upon the forum. I hope Alfie feels better soon!
