Please can everyone keep their fingers crossed for my lovely Harry - just back from the vets, who basically said whatever they did wouldn't make any difference and that he should be put to sleep. The only thing she offered was to stuff him full of steroids and give him a chance - which is what I opted for. He doesn't seem to be in pain, and he's still being pushy so I don't think we're ready to give up yet.

He's not really eating or drinking for himself at the moment, I've put his cagemate Beatrice back in with him to keep him company and encourage him to eat. The trip in the car seems to have taken it out of him and he's just laying down now... :(

So, fingers and everything crossed please, he's such a lovely chappy and I don't want to lose him.

He is very lucky to have a mummy like you. x

I have my fingers crossed and the four lil pigs have there paws crossed get well harry

Aw Harry, we are crossing our fingers and paws here for you little man, keep strong and will be thinking of you and your mummy.

xxxxxxx>>x>>

Keeping everything crossed for Harry. You did what you thought was right at the time Sophie, that's all we can ever do. Take care little man.

Huge hugs honey, if i were in your shoes i woud have done the same and kept trying for him we both know how vets are. The journey will have taken it out of him just keep going putting fluids in offering grass etc. Metacam if he seems to need it. HUge huge hugs and I'm on the end of the phone if you need me or want to chat x

Thank you. I've offered him everything I can think of and he just point blank refuses. Beatrice is having a great time though, she can't believe her luck!

Vet said he's bloated and has build up of fluid, so now worried I'm syringing too much into him... can't win!

Will ring you when I've pulled myself together a bit - thanks!

Hi Sophie. I'm sure you've made the right decision - you know your piggie better than anyone!
He might be sulking. You know what animals are like sometimes when they've been to the vets - they have a little sulk and the next day everything's fine again :))

Poor Harry ... please perk up little chap! xx>>>

I am keeping everything crossed that all goes well for him .... love him!

Keep us posted xx

C'mon Harry! You can do it! Have you tried getting him to naw on hay? I think fiber/carboydrates would do him better than too much liquid. Give him cuddles from me. Also, keep his water nice and fresh. Hope he's having plenty of sleep. Lots of love from me and my four girlies xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Thanks everyone, he's still with us - cuddled up in his towel. Still not eating - not hay, not anything - so I'm syringing him just to keep things moving. I'm not holding out any hope, we'll see what the night brings!

Thanks for your thoughts

Manly brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr's and wheeeeeeeeeeeks from Dukey as well xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Thanks everyone for your kind messages, and Glynis for making me laugh with the 'manly brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrs'! :))

Had a panic at 5 oclock this morning and thought he had died, but he was just sleeping and was a little put out at being poked!

He's up and about this morning, nibbling grass with Lady Beatrice:

So far so good. He needs to be eating more than he is but he's a wriggly little boy and if he doesn't want Critical Care I end up wearing it... Grass is all he'll eat at the moment and I'm sure that's not good but it's that or nothing.

Thanks for bloat info too, that's useful.. he doesn't look like a balloon like Moomin did when she had it. Hmmmm.

Will let you know what happens!

Thank you all

Sophie

Bless him, at least he is eating something. x)

Fingers crossed xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

awww they are so sweet...at least he likes munching on his grass...gives hope...take care of yourself and will keep thinking of little harry. x

Sophie - you have very gorgeous piggies. Hope Harry is feeling a bit better today.

Thank you - he's still with us, but looking very weak and I think we'll be back to the vets tomorrow :( He's pushing away anything I'm trying to feed him or syringe him now and it was really tricky even to get the baytril down him, I feel horrible trying to hold him still and he struggles when he's so weak.

Another sleepless night here I think!

Lovely photo and I am really pleased to hear that Harry is trying to nibble on some grass. Hope all goes well overnight ... will be thinking of you and Harry.

By the way, which is Harry in the photo?

i'm sorry to hear he is weak...won't he touch the grass or anything now? cuddle him from me.x

Harry's the one on the left - he doesn't look skinny does he, because of the fur, but he's gone down to 730g now (he was 800g on Monday)

Nope, he's turning away everything now, just picked some more grass (neighbours think I'm mad, if they didn't already - I've been out there all hours of the day and night finding the best bits of grass!).

Not sure at what point to give up really. If we go to the vets in the morning I know they'll put him to sleep, I just feel helpless. He's warm and dry and I got some fluids down him so we'll see.

Thanks everyone for being so sweet and kind

Sophie
